Healthy Foundations

Healthy Foundations is a single-proprietor firm founded in 1994 and owned by David Rosenberg. It has been located in Boulder, Colorado since 2001.

Mr. Rosenberg is–or was–a lawyer. So what is he doing selling mattresses? A skiing accident left Mr. Rosenberg with a bad back. He found that a memory foam pad relieved his back pain. According to him, guests tried out his memory foam mattress overlay, then asked where they could buy one. So he began selling and distributing them, and Healthy Foundations was born.

Now Healthy Foundations is David Rosenberg's full-time business, He specializes in memory foam: mattress, topper pads, pillows. Rosenberg has been selling memory foam mattresses for 20 years. His current listing has one mattress model, the 10" Memory Foam Mattress. No box springs, platform bases, or adjustable beds are sold by Healthy Foundations.

By his account, Rosenberg works with a mattress manufacturer on design and construction of mattresses. They tested six models for about a year with 300 testers. The five-layer 10" model, was the overwhelming winner. This was a number of years ago, and this has been Healthy Foundations' mattress since then.

In negotiating for the design and manufacture of the mattress, David Rosenberg insisted on higher density foams, especially in the all-important support core. According to him, "The memory foam is the highest quality I've ever come across, and I credit that to the fact it is made by a small boutique memory foam manufacturer that only makes memory foam."

Healthy Foundations says, "All foams used in our mattress are made in the US and also Certipur-US certified, so you can rest easy knowing they are:

•Made without ozone depleters
•Made without PBDE flame retardants
•Made without formaldehyde
•Made without phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission
•Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million)."
