Comfort 9

The entry level model in the Dolce Vita Collection of memory foam mattresses by Magniflex is the Comfort 9. This is a 9" high Medium Plush model. As with other Magniflex mattresses, the Comfort 9 is certified by OEKO as free from harmful substances, especially VOCs (volatile organic compounds). It is also certified as meeting fire safety standards.

Basically, the Comfort 9 can be described as having two layers and a cover. The support layer is Eliosoft, and the comfort layer Memoform. The cover fabric is stretch-knit viscose (more commonly known in North America as rayon).

C - 7" Eliosoft

The rayon (viscose) in the cover of the Comfort 9 is cellulose extracted from wood, which is liquified, extruded and stretched into fibers, then spun into thread or yarn. Rayon is durable and breathable, and it has a silky texture. The zippered cover is removable and washable.

Memoform is Magniflex's formulation of memory foam. It is open-celled, making it more resilient and breathable than the original memory foam. The key feature of memory foam is its conformability. It responds to the weight of the sleeper's body, shaping itself to the contours. This provides support for the entire length of the body, which reduces pressure points since the parts of the body that stick out, such as hips and shoulders, do not carry most of the weight. Being open-celled means air percolates through the foam, cooling it.

Eliosoft is the softer (less firm) version of Magniflex's support foam, Magnifoam (the firmer version is Elioform). Magniform has a highly dense microcellular structure which makes it both elastic and breathable. In combination with the comfort foam, this is supposed to make the bed comfortable enough for a good night's sleep.

A foundation with consistent support, such as a platform bed or a European wood slat base, is recommended for the Magniflex Comfort 9. This mattress is also compatible with adjustable beds.

The Dolce Vita Comfort 9 carries a 20-year manufacturer's warranty from Magniflex. It is available in the United States and Canada through several retailers, both in stores and online. The mattress is made by order in Italy by Magniflex. It is compressed, rolled up and vacuum-wrapped to be shipped.
