Children’s Mattress

The Children's Mattress, according to European Sleep Works, is "made just for kids." In line with other ESW products, this innerspring mattress features natural materials, quality steel, and no toxic chemicals. This means no polyurethane foam or memory foam, and no synthetic fabrics in contact with sleepers (a durable fabric is used for the coil pockets).

This is a rather simple mattress. It has a pocket coil support core and a latex comfort layer in a quilted cover.

The support core in the Children's Mattress by European Sleep Works is composed of European pocket coils. It is not stated in the descriptions of the mattress, but in other models European coils are pre-compressed. Accounting for the thickness of the comfort layer and the quilting, the coils in this 8" mattress are about 6˝" high. Pocket coils relieve pressure on large joints. This is not a major concern for infants and toddlers, but as the child grows (this is a Twin-size mattress), it does become a factor, so this procuct is intended for years of use.

The comfort layer of the ESW Children's Mattress is 1" of Talalay latex. This latex is all natural, made from rubber tree sap. Latex is resilient, and is dust mite resistant and anti-microbial.

The cover of the Children's Mattress is made of organic cotton. This is quilted to Merino wool. The compressed wool is a natural flame barrier, removing the need for chemicals. It is also cushioning, controls moisture, and is temperature neutral.

This is a breathable mattress. The cover and wool are breathable, Talalay latex is vertically ventilated, and air flows naturally through the coils.

The Children's Mattress works well on a platform bed or closely-spaced fixed slats. Other foundations it can also be used with include ESW's Flexible Slat System, in which the response of individual slats can be adjusted.

The Children's Mattress can be found in the European Sleep Works store in Berkeley, California. It can also be shipped for a fee to other areas in the United States. The warranty is for 10 years, which covers most of the time a child will be using this mattress.
