Launched in the Fall of 2015, the Purple Mattress quickly gained in attention and popularity. Though the mattress is new, the signature material is not entirely new. To start, Purple is the latest of cushioning materials developed by its creators, Tony Pearce and his brother Terry. Their first, Floam, has been used widely in fields such as medical care, sports, and seating. Purple has also gained widespread usage, and it is the key ingredient of Purple Cushions.
Purple is claimed to be more durable than memory foam. It also does not accumulate heat. The key benefit is pressure relief and spinal support.
The Purple Mattress is a relative newcomer to the bedding genre of mattress-in-a-box. These mattresses, mostly specialty sleep, are compressed, rolled up, wrapped and sealed, and fitted into boxes for shipping. Since they are ordered directly from the producers, this saves the cost of warehousing, distributing and showing in retail stores, making them more affordable for the average consumer.
To be honest, the Purple Mattress is not all Purple. The 9½" high mattress (listed as 10" by some reporters) has 2" of Purple on the top. Underneath are a 3½ comfort layer and a 4" support layer of polyurethane foam.
The Purple Mattress is medium-firm, what Tony and Terry found to be the best level for most sleepers. Some customers have found this too firm for them.
In advertising, Purple touts the advantages of its material over memory foam, For one thing, it does not build up heat and become too warm. One user said it was too cold for him. Another advantage of Purple is that it is more durable, does not develop body impressions.
The cover of the mattress is described as "Soft, stylish knit all-white." The fiber is not disclosed, but it must be stretchy. Purple recommends jersey knit sheets for more conformity on the mattress.
The Purple Mattress is available only online, though a retailer can sign on as an affiliate to have the mattress ordered from and delivered to their store. This will enable the store's staff to assist a customer in carrying the heavy mattress into the bedroom and setting it up. Even with a small markup, this would be less expensive than traditional marketing.
The Purple Mattress carries a 110 night return period, and has a 10-year warranty.

The wife and I love this mattress! Although it does take a few days to get use to it. Once we slept on it a few nights we were in love and very grateful we made the decision to buy this mattress.

The Purple really does feel comfy and I find it hard to stay awake when I'm laying down on it.

This mattress stays cool and and seems to support as advertised. I was very impressed. I suffer from back pain from years of working and probably using bad form. It helped a lot. I go to bed with back pain and wake with no back pain. No joke!
Quality:
It seems to be heavy. I know that doesn't mean anything, but I always feel the heavier the better quality in a mattress. probably silly, but it seems to be pretty good to me.

This mattress has performed better than my expectations. I am a side sleeper who is curvy and I have found it to be most comfortable. It is firmer than I would like but now they have the 3 and 4 as I am in the original model! Love it!
