The Sublime Superb has the third highest coil count (3312) of luxury mattresses by Vispring. The highest are Masterpiece Superb (4080) (an upgrade of Masterpiece) and Signatory Superb (3496). All of these British-made innerspring mattresses have six-turn vanadium steel pocket coils. And all are finished with natural materials, especially wool.
The 2" diameter pocket coils in a Sublime Superb (3312 in Queen size) are nested in two layers separated by a wool insulating pad. Nesting (in a hexagonal-honeycomb grid) is the densest coil spring configuration. This placement reaps the most pressure relief from the independently responding coils, which is further enhanced with two layers. Most other manufacturers use one layer of taller coils.
Coir is added to the sides for edge support in the Sublime Superb, while cording binds each innerspring layer.
The comfort materials (upholstery) in a Sublime Superb are wool (Platinum Certified Shetland wool and British fleece wool), horsehair, mohair, silk and organic cotton on both sides of this two-sided mattress. British fleece wool is next to the coils. Just out from that is long hair horsetail which is hand-teased blended with Shetland wool, silk and mohair to a weight of 5 oz/ft2. This cushioning blend is encased in a cambric cover, which is hair-proof. The top layer is a 3.9 oz/ft2 blend of Shetland Islands wool and organic cotton.
The cover of the Sublime Superb is the customer's choice of Belgian worsted wool damask. The mattress as a whole is tufted by hand.
Also, the 9.1" high border is layers of woven wool stitched together in four rows. The border has air vents on all sides and sewn-in handles. The handles ease the required periodic rotation and flipping. The vents help keep the interior of the mattress fresh and dry to make the steel coils last longer.
Vispring pairs the Sublime Superb with a foundation, the Sovereign. This is a sprung base with one layer of heavy duty pocket coils mounted on a wood frame. The frame is glued and screwed together, not stapled or nailed. The coils are covered with coir and wool padding, and the whole base is covered in the buyer's choice of fabric. This is available as a 12.2" Divan (with options for drawers), 9.8" Boxspring, 6.7" Shallow Boxbase, or 4.7" Sprung Low Profile Base.
