BAR750 is a bariatric bed with a weight capacity of up to 750 pounds. This is the total lifting capacity. Counting the
mattress, linens, blankets, mounted equipment, etc., this means the
BAR750 can handle a patient weighing up to 650-675 lbs.
Invacare also makes the
BAR600 with a lifting capacity of up to 600 lbs.
Bedspring on hospital bed
The
BAR750 Bariatric Bed has a heavy duty metal frame, designed to support very heavy clients. This bed also features a split-spring design. The
bedspring (what the mattress lies on) is in two sections, headspring and footspring. The frame itself can be taken apart, head and foot. This makes it easier to store and move the bed. Invacare also has replacement footsprings and headsprings.

Speaking about the spilt-spring, on the
BAR750 Bariatric Bed this extends to the edges of the frame for support across the entire width of the mattress.
A key feature of the
Invacare BAR750 is the choice width. Available widths are 39, 42 and 48 inches. This accommodates wider clients. Not only the width selectable, but also the length of the
BAR750, from 80 to 88 inches. These options are in addition to adjusting the height of the bed.
The
Invacare BAR750 has two locking casters at each end of the bed. Those at the foot of the bed are steering casters. This model also has two motors for raising and lowering the bed itself.
The control pendant enables the patient to adjust the position of the bed, as well as making it easier for the caregiver to make adjustments. Battery backup is a safety measure for power interruptions.
Invacare has a number of
BARMATT mattresses available for the
BAR750. These mattresses have been configured to support and cushion bariatric clients up to 750 pounds. These mattresses meet federal fire safety standards.
The
Invacare BAR750 Bariatric Bed is available for sale or rent through several authorized home healthcare distributors. It is covered by
Invacare's manufacturers warranty of 5 years for the basic frame/structure and 3 years for mechanical and electrical components.
