Carolina Mattress Guild

Carolina Mattress Guild (CMG) is a family owned and operated designer, manufacturer and distributor of mattresses in the eastern portion of the United States. Founded and headquartered in Thomasville, North Carolina, the furniture capital of America, CMG also has a plant in Florida. Carolina Mattress Guild has dealers in 16 states and Puerto Rico, with markets spilling over into other states, covering the Atlantic seaboard of the U.S. (except NH and ME), and as far west as IN, KY and TX.

Carolina Mattress Guild was started in 1991 by Neal and Kathy Grigg. He had been a Leggett & Platt executive, and she a bedding designer. Having rebuilt from a disaterous fire in 2001, CMG pioneered fire retardant mattresses, a move followed by other mattress suppliers.

Carolina Mattress Guild currently lists 10 mattress collections with 6 types of mattresses. The lines are Fresh Touch, Cool Coils, Cool Flex, Renew, Platinum Series, Natural Living, Nature's Image, Town and Country, Exclusively for Sleepy's and Aria Collection. CMG also makes mattresses for Thomasville and Broyhill furniture companies.

The types of mattresses are: Bio-Logic Foam Core, Gel Memory Foam and Individually Wrapped Comfort Coils, Natural Latex, Traditional Innerspring, Soy Foam Core, and Individually Wrapped Comfort Coils. About their selections, Carolina Mattress Guild says, "With so many choices it's easy to find the perfect CMG mattress for you!" Besides mattresses, Carolina Mattress Guild's bedding products also include pillows and pillowcases as well as adjustable beds made by Leggett & Platt.

Carolina Mattress Guild boasts that their ingredients are eco-friendly. The firm is a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council and uses CertiPUR-US certified foams. Some of these eco-friendly ingredients are tickings made from organic cotton and bamboo pulp fiber, silk and wool, hybrid soy foam (including memory foam), synthetic and natural latex, and gel-infused memory foam. They also use wood from the spruce pine fir and yarns made from recycled plastic bottles.

Carolina Mattress Guild has showrooms in the High Point Furniture Market in High Point, NC, and in the World Market Center in Las Vegas, NV, and is active in the furniture and bedding shows in these places. Carolina Mattress Guild is a company to watch as they continue to grow and expand into other markets across the nation.

Update:

In January 2015, Carolina Mattress Guild filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The firm has ceased operations and liquidated its assets. Their manufacturing plant in Florida was sold in 2014 to a Florida retailer.
