| The King Koil name has been around for about 110 years and has been, through the parent company Comfort Solutions, the only manufacturer to be a Consumers Digest best buy 6 years in its history. The King Koil firm model may be part of the reason it has been named a best buy. This is because, with over a century of experience, King Koil can still offer a firm bed set starting at about $360 in a queen size. Yes, that is correct, a queen set including foundation for only $360. Obviously, the budget model we are referring to is not available everywhere, and is not the only model offered in a firm overall feel. One of the things all firm mattresses have in common, regardless of manufacture, is the fact that the support base will be very firm and the overall feel will be influenced by comfort layers. This is done for many reasons, cost not being the least. If a manufacturer had to create a new spring set for each firmness of each model offered, the beds would be tremendously expensive. By using the same base throughout all mattresses of that series, and using more or less comfort foam as needed, the cost stays affordable. King Koil exploits this capability and adds a little more comfort foam at the top of the mattress for a slightly softer overall feel compared to the ultra firm models. As a reminder, there may be multiple mattresses listed in the firm category, and as such there could be several differences in the spring bases for each. King Koil is no start-up company, but is not available at every bed store. Even if you have never heard of King Koil before, let the facts of the mattress you are considering help you make the decision. With at least a 10 year non-pro-rated warranty and over a century in the bed industry, the firm models available from King Koil are worth considering. |
