Nature’s Rest Progeny Natural Latex Green Bed Plush

A common event in the mattress industry used to change the feel of a mattress is to increase the foam used or use softer foam near the surface of the mattress. When evaluating the plush models of the Nature’s Rest Progeny series of mattresses, you will certainly see more foam. The overall thickness of the plush models of this green bed will start around 13.5 inches. This will include an abundance of natural latex foam and a little bit of man-made foam, making the Progeny a green bed overall. The man-made foam appears to be in the zoned support layers and below the latex core, which is not a majority of the bed. The purpose of using a poly-based foam below the latex appears to be to add some rigidity where the mattress mates with the foundation.

The cover of the plush Progeny series green bed from Nature’s Rest uses a designer brand of wool called Joma wool. This brand is quoted by the manufacturer as being a clean wool, and allergen free as well. The practical application of wool in a bed set cover is that wool can absorb some moisture without feeling damp. Since almost everyone will shed fluid as they sleep, via sweat or oils, this benefit is good to have in a bed cover. The wool cover also helps the Progeny series maintain its status as a green bed. The latex layers in the Progeny series are in two primary configurations – the Body Curve topper and the latex support core. The Body Curve topper is a multi-layered, interlocking latex design which alternates thicknesses of foam without changing the profile overall. The image above illustrates the interlocking foam layers. The process of alternating the thickness of the different grades of latex is designed to provide more support where needed.

As far as plush mattresses and beds are concerned, you could certainly purchase a less expensive bed. The natural latex and intricate design of the Nature’s Rest Progeny series green bed is definitely an expensive feature. With an expected price of about $2800.00 for a queen set, this is a bed set that you would want to know as much as possible about before making a purchase. Make sure to be very familiar with what would be covered under the sleep trial period as well as the warranty.
