| With the Simmons Beautyrest NxG 100 plush, Simmons has taken the NxG 100 mattress in the Beautyrest line and added a softer initial feel. Using the same overall design and concept, Simmons uses a slightly softer NxG memory foam layer and plush foam layer to yield a slight bit more initial plushness without affecting the firm supportive base spring network. You will see the individually pocketed coil springs (the same as with the NxG 100 firm) to help reduce transfer of motion. Also, the 1 inch total of comfortable NxG memory foam and comfort foam are in the same proportions as the NxG 100 firm. The Super Pocketed Coil spring system uses up to 1260 coils in the king size, which is substantially more than most pocketed coil mattresses. Also, keep in mind that pocketed coils are not joined to each other at the top of the spring, which helps reduce pressure points by allowing each spring to respond to the weight applied to it, rather than having nearby springs absorb some of the pressure and provide resistance to your body. The Simmons Beautyrest NxG 100 plush is an impressive design, but just as unimpressive is the price. It almost seems like buying an HDTV with a built-in VHS player - it will work, but is overkill on the price and not making the best use of the materials available. With a king sleep system breaking the $2000 point, some entry level latex or memory foam mattresses might be considerable for you. I recommend looking at the 250 or 400 NxG models. However, if you are looking for a firm mattress with a little bit of memory foam feel, this may be a good model for you. |
