Leggett & Platt ShipShape Adjustable Base
for Comfortaire

The ShipShape adjustable bed by Leggett & Platt is an ultra-light model, light enough to be shipped in two boxes via UPS or FedEx. Along with Silhouette, it is one of two adjustable beds sold by Comfortaire for use with their airbeds.

Besides being very light, ShipShape also lets the users personalize their beds. Using the range of available positions, the bed can be configured for back health, reading, enhanced circulation, breathing ease, etc. It does not have all the features of other adjustable beds, making it much more afordable, but it does work well for many users.

The principal features of the ShipShape Adjustable Base are Whisper Quiet motors, wired remote, modular electrical system, and Free-Fall design.

• The AC 100 Whisper Quiet motors with a lifting capacity of 450 lbs. are quiet enough that a sleeper can adjust one side of a split bed without waking the other sleeper. There are separate motors for the head and foot of the bed.

• The wired backlit remote has three raised rocker buttons to make it easy to use.

• The electrical system is modular. Components can be plugged in rather then using wire nuts, making it simpler, surer and safer to change electrical parts for repairs or upgrades.

• The Free-Fall design allows gravity to lower the head and foot of the bed gradually (not suddenly). This is convenient if the power is out. It is also safer, less startling, and avoids damage to the bed and nearby objects.

This bed does not have a massage function. If you desire one, there are other models which do have it, such as the Silhouette Premium Adjustable Base which is also sold by many of the firms selling the ShipShape. Besides Comfortaire, several retailers also still sell these models.

The ShipShape Adjustable Base comes with Leggett and Platt's 1-3-20 Limited Warranty, with full coverage for the first full year, coverage of parts only for the next two years, and coverage for the frame, but not electrical components and systems, for the remaining 17 years.
