The Signature Performance Adjustable Base is an updated version of an older adjustable bed model in the newly created Leggett & Platt collection, Performance Model Adjustable Bases. Legggett and Platt says, "Our Performance Model adjustable bases feature the best of our tried and true classic models, with modern upgrades." Other models in this collection are S-Cape+, S-Cape, Simplicity, and Pro-Motion. The last three are also listed under Classic Models.
The Signature Adjustable Base has a free-standing wireless remote. Standard features include articulation of both head and foot, the Flat button, a motor which is both quiet and powerful, and up-to-date fabric upholstery. The available sizes are Twin, Twin XL, Full, Full XL, Queen, Split Queen, Split King, and Split California King. If you have a split size bed, a sync cable is included, Using this, the two sides will operate as one.
What is really new for the Signature is the remote. Not only wireless. it can also stand on end. This makes it easy to put on a nightstand, find and pick up. The wireless remote is also simple. The backlit buttons include two toggles, for raising and lowering the head and the foot, and the press-and-hold Flat button. The remotes for the S-Cape Performance and S-Cape Plus Performance are also stand-ups, but they have more buttons, meaning more controllable features.
The head and foot of the Signature Adjustable Base can be raised together or separately. The four basic positions are Flat, Head Only, Foot Only, and Zero Gravity.
The ultra-quiet DC motors have a total lifting capacity of 700 pounds. This includes the mattress and linens as well as any accessories carried on the bed. The Signature has the Free-Fall Design Safety Feature: in case of a power outage, the bed will slowly lower by gravity only to the flat position. This makes getting out of bed easier and safer. The motors are CSA and UL certified as meeting standards for electric motors.
The sturdy frame of heavy-duty steel has 4" legs with casters, making it easy to move the bed. The outside of the frame has a cover of grey upholstery fabric to make it compatible with most room decors. Retainers at the ends hold the mattress in place. A headboard bracket kit is also available.
The Signature is covered by Leggett & Platt's 1-3-20 Limited Warranty. Year 1 has full coverage for all non-excluded defects. Years 2-3 are limited to applicable parts, but not shipping. The remaining years, coverage is limited to steel and mechanical parts, prorated, and not including shipping or service.
Leggett & Platt does not sell their adjustable beds directly to consumers, but on the product page for the Signature is a "Let's Go Shopping" button which takes you to the "Find a Store" page. Type in your zip code, and you will find a list of the closest retailers. Tap the "MAP IT" button on a listing, and it finds that store on the map.
