Introduced in late 2014, the Serta Pivot Head-Up Adjustable Foundation adds a head-only adjustable base to its line of Serta Motion Adjustable Foundations. The manufacturer is Reverie.
Most companies selling adjustable beds, including mattress manufacturers, now offer up foundations, which are essentially flat bases on which the head section can be tilted up. The primary advantages of this, especially for back sleepers, are making breathing easier and easing back strain. This also has advantages of convenience, such as sitting up for reading, eating, visiting, watching videos, etc.
The Serta Pivot is billed as an upgrade from a flat foundation or a box spring. For those who only want the option of raising the head, this is much less expensive than a regular adjustable bed. Still, the Pivot has some features common to the costlier beds.
Starting at the surface, Pivot has the Serta Pro-Fit™ System. The two corners at the foot of the bed have retainer bars to keep the mattress from being pushed off the platform when the head is raised.
The motor for raising the head is quiet. It has a 650-lb. lifting capcity. In a Split King or Split California King, this means two motors. If the two sides are to be operated as one, they can be linked and synched with a Y-cable. The Pivot Head-Up has a back-up battery for power outages.
The wired remote has a one-touch button for the flat position. Only gravity lowers the head for safety. Another safety feature is the no-pinch design.
The box frame of the Serta Pivot is designed to sit on the floor. However, optional legs can lift this foundation off the floor. The box frame is upholstered to be compatible with room decor and bedding.
Available through Serta retailers or directly from Serta online, the Pivot Head-Up Adjustable Foundation is covered by Reverie's 10-year Limited Warranty.
