Floor Hugger

The Floor Hugger by Transfer Master Products, Inc. is an adjustable bed designed to be lowered to a super low level, only 9½" from the floor to the deck. This makes it easier for a user with mobility difficulty to get into and out of bed from a standing position. This is a hi-low bed which can also be raised to be on the same level as another bed in the room or to a height appropriate for transferring to or from a wheelchair or lift chair, or for therapy by a caregiver. This bed can be raised to 21½" from deck to floor.

Most adjustable beds, hospital and residential, have two position adjustments: upper body and legs. The maximum elevation angle of the back is 65°, and that of the feet is 35°. Hi-low beds, including the Floor Hugger, have a third, the hi-low vertical adjustment to raise and lower the bed as a whole. In one version of the Floor Hugger, these controls can be coordinated for a reverse Trendelenberg position (the flat deck tilted with the head high and the feet low).

One option available with the Floor Hugger is a single (whole body) massage. The massage is a key therapy function for several users, stimulating blood circulation and relaxing sore muscles.

Floor Hugger Remote (oblique)

A simple, wired hand-held remote controls all bed functions. It has only six buttons, and a bracket for hanging it from a frame or rail.

The Floor Hugger is listed by Transfer Master under Hospital Beds, but it is also sold for home use. It is available in three sizes, Twin, Full and Queen, and has brackets for a headboard and footboard. Transfer Master sells the Floor Hugger with one of its Specialty Mattresses, but it can be bought alone to be used with a mattress of the customer's choice.
