Aireloom Nimbus Pillow

At this time, Aireloom Bedding makes one pillow, the Aireloom Nimbus Pillow. This pillow had previously been named the Aspire Pillow. It had also been shown with the Preferred series. Aireloom has chosen to have one name for its pillow. Nimbus means "cloud."

The name change means that it is no longer automatically associated with Aireloom's Aspire Collection. It is for sale separately at some retailers carrying Aireloom mattresses.

Like Aireloom mattresses, the Nimbus Pillow is a luxury item. The price tag is higher than most other manufacturers' pillows, but not as much higher as their mattresses are.

A signature feature of the Nimbus Pillow is the cover fabric, TENCEL® New Age. The generic name is lyocell. This is a type of rayon, and is classified as such by the FTC, since it is regenerated cellulose. However, the process differs from rayon. The organic solvent used is recycled and re-used in a closed loop. Also, according to Lenzing AG (the only manufacturer of Tencel), the source for the wood used is farm-raised eucalytus trees.

Like rayon, Tencel is absorbent and feels like silk. It is used in clothing to balance temperatures, the same role it fulfills on the Nimbus Pillow.

A pillow, however, is more than its cover. Inside the viscose fiber cover of the Nimbus Pillow is visco elastic foam, better known as memory foam. This memory foam has open-cell structure. According to Aireloom, this "allows the pillow to softly protect your head and neck while still maintaining its shape." The weight of the memory foam is not stated, but in memory foam mattresses by Relief-Mart, the 4-lb. foam is firmer than the 5-lb. memory foam.

The core of the Nimbus Pillow is also ventilated to allow air flow for cooling. Not only is this claimed to not build up heat, but to rapidly recover its shape "no matter how you choose to lay with it."

Aireloom Pillow

Sit'nSleep and The Sleep Shoppe are two of the Aireloom retailers carrying the Nimbus Pillow. The border matches that of Aspire Collection mattresses. It is available in one size, about 17" wide and 28" long. The limited warranty is for three years.
