The newest memory foam mattress made by Amerisleep, the online retailer, is the Independence Bed, introduced in mid-2015. This 14" high mattress has a comfort feel Amerisleep calls Luxury Plush, suitable for side sleepers and combo sleepers. The company describes this new model as "The pinnacle of innovation."
Amerisleep credits "advanced technology" for the Independence Bed's "superior sleep." This new mattress is a showcase of Amerisleep's new and revised features. These include Celiant-infused yarns in the cover, Bio-Pur+™ (a revised version of their signature memory foam), and Active Flex, their new version of polyurethane foam with a latex-like response.
The Independence Bed has a 9-3-2 three-layer construction, with a 9" support core, 3" transition layer and a 2" comfort layer, each with its own material engineered for its specific role.
The white waterfall cover is double-knit in a sculpted pattern from Celiant-infused yarns. Celiant is a temperature-regulating material. It absorbs heat and radiates it out as infrared light. The knit pattern is to make the fabric more conformable to the sleeper, even as the memory foam beneath conforms.
The Bio-Pur+ in the 2" high comfort layer is a new version of Amerisleep's Bio-Pur memory foam. It has a more extreme open-cell structure to make it more breathable and much cooler than the original memory foam, which developed a bad reputation for becomong too warm. When sleepers are too warm, they become uncomfortable. This makes it harder to sleep well. Quality sleep is important to waking rested and refreshed and performng well throughiut the day.
Under the comfort layer of the Independence Bed is a transition layer. This is made of Amerisleep's new version of polyurethane foam. This foam, made using plant-based oils, is more resilient than previous versions. Its response is close to that of latex. This layer uses Surface Modification Technology (SMT). The face of the foam is shaped by precisely sculpted channels to enable moisture heat to escape. This is similar to techniques used by many mattress manufacturers to ventilate the interior of the mattress.
Primary support in the Independence Bed rests on the 9" support core, made from Bio-Core support foam. Amerisleep claims that this foam "keeps your hips and shoulders in their natural position to ensure you have no pain from sleeping."
Since, like all Amerisleep mattresses, the Independence Bed is purchased online, it is shipped to the customer's home. It is compressed, rolled up, and packed into a cardboard box. When it arrives, Amerisleep says, the customer will Unpack, Unroll, and Unwind: Unpack the rolled, compressed mattress from the box. Unroll the mattress and let it expand. Unwind by lying on the mattress and relaxing.
A firm foundation is essential for optimum performance in a memory foam mattress. Amerisleep recommends four kinds of foundations: a platform bed. a box foundation with a solid top, a slatted bed frame with closely-spaced slats, or an adjustable bed.
Amerisleep now has a 100-night trial period—"Rest without Risk." The warranty period is for 20 year, the first 10 full and the last 10 prorated.
