Bamboo Chic
The Bamboo Chic is in the Geoethic collection of Magniflex mattresses. Magniflex touts it as being "For a rigorous wellbeing." It is described as an "Orthopedic Mattress" on retailers' websites. It is made in two firmness levels, medium-firm and medium-plush. However, one retailer has posted a notice that the "soft" version is being discontinued.

Firm mattresses have for a long time been prescribed for persons with back problems, because they do not let the back sag. However, a totally firm sleeping surface leads to problems with pressure points. So mattress makers alleviate this by cushioning a firm support core with layers of softer materials.

In the case of the 8" Bamboo Chic, ¹/₄" of Elioform, a blend of two kinds of polyester (one for firmness, the other for strength), is quilted into the cover on both sides of the mattress. Elioform has a cellular configuration which makes it breathable while also being hygenic.

The primary support in the Magniflex Bamboo Chic Mattress is provided by a 7¹/₈" core of EcoGreen oprthopedic fiber padding encased in hypoallergenic and breathable fibers. According to Magniflex, it is made of fabrics. (They do not say how these fabrics are arranged within the EcoGreen, such as layering, crumpling, or other.) The component fabrics are said to be "eco-friendly" and breathable, releasing "natural essences" for the benefit of the sleepers' bodies. Again, they do not say what these essences are or how they are beneficial.

The cover fabric of the Magniflex Bamboo Chic Mattress is a blend of organic bamboo and organic cotton fibers. This fabric is hypoallergenic. It is also temperature regulating and moiture-wicking, keeping a sleeper both cool and dry. As with all the other materials in this model, this fabric is certified as environmentally safe.

Overall, Magniflex lists the Bamboo Chic as both firm and breathable. It is available through several retailers and carries a 20-year manufacturer's warranty.
