Bassett DreamMaker Plush All Bassett DreamMaker mattresses seem to be a great compromise between price and features. This is thanks, in large part, to the fact that Bassett sleep systems are produced by Sealy, another leader in the mattress industry. As such, the Bassett line of mattresses shares a lot of the technology used by Sealy and should be considered as a designer series premium mattress. Some of the features which bring the Bassett mattresses to the front of the group are a fire retardant quilted cover, multiple layers of comfort foam, and the Motion Control System individually pocketed spring.

The Motion Control System is the first step in creating a premium mattress. Using Marshall Pocket Coils, the individual springs can more accurately sense and respond to weight applied to help lessen pressure points. Think of a comparison between a standard innerspring, which could correspond to a sheet of cardboard laying on top of several springs, and the individually pocketed coil springs, which would simply be several springs standing side-by-side. If you press on the cardboard setup with your hand, you are applying the same amount of pressure to all springs. This would increase your resistance and also increase the amount of pressure you would need to compress the cardboard as far as it will go. Now it you remove the cardboard, you are only pressing down on one spring, or at worst a small group. This would require less pressure to totally compress the spring. The translation is that you would need less effort, and therefore feel less pressure, on the individual springs than you would on the networked springs in the first example.

This technology is used in conjunction with several layers of foam, and on some upper-end plush mattresses, memory foam. Those foam layers and the individually pocketed springs will help reduce pressure points and could improve the quality of your sleep, helping you feel more rested without requiring more hours of sleep. Of course, you can also find pillowtop or euro-top variants which will improve the initial feel some and help keep the overall feel very soft and still supportive.

Update
