Balanced Days, also known as
Nourishing Comfort, is one of the middle models in the 2014
Comforpedic Collection of
memory foam mattresses under the
Beautyrest brand by
Simmons. This 12½" model features the
Simmons Beautyrest Evenloft Quilt Design,
AirCool Memory Foam with
TruTemp Gel,
Advanced AirCool Memory Foam, and the
Advanced AirCool Edge.
Under the
polyester-
cotton jersey knit
Evenloft cover fabric and a fire barrier are an inch of 4-lb.
AirCool Memory Foam with
TruTemp Gel, 1½" of 4½-lb.
Advanced AirCool Memory Foam, 2" of 4½-lb.
AirCool Memory Foam, and a 2" transition layer.
Advanced AirCool Memory Foam has an expanded open-cell structure which not only lets air flow through the foam for cooling, but makes the
memory foam more responsive, adjusting to sleeper movements quickly enough to not hinder changing positions. This is also to provide better pressure point relief.
AirCool Memory Foam is an open-cell foam to promote air flow. It is not quite as resilient as the
Advanced version, but more resilient than traditional memory foams.
The
AirCool Memory Foam with
TruTemp Gel is not just another gel-infused memory foam. More than simply cooling the mattress by conveying heat away to dissipate, TruTemp actually regulates temperature, keeping it within a specified range. The
gel in this
foam contains
phase change materials (PCMs). When too warm, PCMs absorb a lot of heat right at their melting-point, staying at the same temerature until completely melted. Then when too cool, the PCMs solidify, releasing heat.
The transition layer between the comfort layers and the support core is part of
Beautyrest's
Independent Support Technology. Its support level is intermediate btween the mamory foam comfort layers and the 5"
AirCool Transflexed Core. This high-density and highly resilient
polyurethane foam supports both the comfort layers and the sleepers. It is a very firm material, so the plusher layers above this moderate the firmness level.
Edge support comes from the
Advanced AirCool Edge. This is part of the
AirCool Design, which stimulates airflow into and through the mattress for cooling and freshness. This is foam encasement which is penetrated horizontally by pores. These work together with the mesh border fabric.
The recommended
foundation for the
Beautyrest Comforpedic Balanced Days/Nourishing Comfort is the
Simmons Triton platform. This model is also compatible with
adjustable beds.
