Beautyrest Recharge Memory Foam Plus (2015)

The creation of the Recharge Memory Foam Plus collection by Simmons under the Beautyrest brand is part of the company's brand unification program. The Comforpedic brand, part of Simmons Beautyrest since Simmons bought the Comforpedic company, will be phased out as the specialty sleep product line is transferred to Recharge Memory Foam Plus. Mattresses in this collection are available in five comfort levels (Plush, Firm, Luxury Firm & Ultra Plush) and seven sizes (Twin, Twin Extra Long, Full, Queen, King, California King, and Split California King).

Recharge Memory Foam Plus models differ from those in other Beautyrest collections in not being innerspring mattresses. These are memory foam mattresses with foam support cores. Actually, these are dual support mattresses. The 7" high-density polyurethane support core is topped with a 2" Engineered Gel Support Layer. Simmons says, "Over 700 foam cushions respond independently to your shape and movement for personalized support." This is also part of Beautyrest's AirCool Design: "Airflow between cushions helps dissipate heat to keep you in a comfortable sleeping zone."

Several foams add to the comfort of Beautyrest Recharge Memory Foam Plus mattresses: AirCool® Memory Foam, AirCool® Gel Memory Foam, AirCool® Max Memory Foam, BeautyCloud™ Memory Foam, ContourFit™ Gel Memory Foam, and Comfort Response™ Latex. The first three are part of the AirCool Design. The combinations of these foams give each model its height and overall comfort level.

AirCool Memory Foam is in the Recharge Memory Foam Plus Plush model. This ventilated open-cell memory foam is designed to provide contouring support for pressure relief and back support without becoming too warm, as the original memory foam did.

AirCool Gel Memory Foam is found in the Luxury Firm and Luxury Plush models. The memory foam is open-cell and ventilated as in the AirCool Memory Foam (above), but is infused with gel. The gel gives the memory foam more fluid-like support. It also does absorb some heat and conduct it away.

The AirCool Max Memory Foam is in the top layer of the Beautyrest Rcharge Memory Foam Plus Firm, Luxury Firm, Luxury Plush and Ultra Plush models. The outstanding feature of this foam is its use of diamond dust (micro particles) to conduct heat away from the sleeping surface.

BeautyCloud™ Memory Foam is an extra plush memory foam. In the 2015 Recharge Memory Foam Plus collection it is only in the Utra Plush model.

ContourFit™ Gel Memory Foam is in the Firm, Luxury Firm and Ultra Plush models of the Recharge Memory Foam Plus collection of Beautyrest mattresses. Beads of gel are infused into this memory foam expressly to enhance the contouring of the foam to provide what Simmons calls "exceptional support."

Comfort Response™ Latex is the only foam, other than the support core foam, that is not memory foam, and in this collection it is found in only the 13½" high Recharge Memory Foam Plus Luxury Firm model. In this mattress, it is between the AirCool Gel Memory Foam and the ContourFit Gel Memory Foam. Latex is selected for its resilience. It keeps the support level up even while the three memory foams are giving in. Latex has other beneficial properties which are not critical when as deep in the mattress as it is here.

Around the perimeters of the Beautyrest Recharge Memory Foam Plus mattresses is the BeautyEdge foam encasement. This thick wall of foam is pierced by vents to let air enter and exit the mattress. This is part of the AirCool Design, using air to cool and freshen the mattress. It is also support for the edge of the sleeping surface, intended to prevent rolling off due to edge sag. Edge support of some kind is used by almost all mattress manufacturers to make the sleepng surface entirely usable. Also, a stable edge makes it easier to get into and out of bed.

The recommended foundations are Simmons' advanced-design box spring, the Triton Foundation, and the adjustable beds Renew Powerbase and Renew Powerbase Plus. These mattresses are also compatible with platform beds and with European wood slats (if the gap between slats is less than 2").

Mattresses in the 2015 Beautyrest Recharge Memory Foam Plus collection are covered by Simmons' 10-Year Limited Warranty, which is non-prorated. More and more retailers will be showing this collection as the Comforpedic line is phased out.
