Beautyrest Recharge World Class (2015)

In its two-year revamping of the Beautyrest brand, Simmons has moved the World Class Collection under the Recharge banner as the Beautyrest Recharge World Class brand. These innerspring mattresses are a step up from Beautyrest Recharge. Simmons tags the Recharge World Class line as "Experience Superior Sleep."

The principal features of this brand are the Beautyrest Pocketed Coil® Technology, SurfaceCool Plus™ Fiber, and AirCool® Gel Memory Foam. Other features include Simmons' BeautyEdge® Foam Encasement with QuantumLock™, and Energy Foam. AirCool® Foam, AirFeel® Foam and microcoils are offered on select models.

The support unit of Beautyrest World Class mattresses is an innerspring of individually encased pocket coils. Patented by James Marshall (a Simmons engineer) in 1900, these independently responding coil springs provide evenly distributed support for the entire body. Since they do not pull each other down, motion on one side of the mattress is not transferred to the other side.

An overall feature of Beautyrest Recharge World Class is the AirCool Design. Promising to keep the mattress cool, this system includes the cover, foam comfort layers, and the edge support.

Under the breathable cotton-polyester knit cover fabric are SurfaceCool Plus™ Fibers. These are Tencel fibers arranged as a pile, fibers perpendicular to the surface. Tencel channels moisture away from the surface, keeping it dry. Meanwhile, the channeled moisture evaporates, cooling the surface.

Foams used in the comfort layers of Beautyrest Recharge World Class mattresses have an open-cell structure, which allows air to filter through the foam. This air carries away heat and evaporated moisture to cool the interior of the mattress and keep it fresh.

GelTouch is a plush comfort foam infused with gel. The gel keeps the soft foam from being too wimpy. It also conducts heat away to dissipate.

AirCool Gel Memory Foam is ventilated for airflow. The memory foam is for conforming to body contours, relieving presure points, even when firm. The added gel is for enhancing both support and cooling in this foam. Even though gel's cooling is being questioned by some, it is still used for its support properties.

AirCool and AirFeel are premium foams, used on only the higher end models. They are not memory foam, but their structure still fosters airflow for ventilation.

The pocket coil unit is surrounded by Simmons' BeautyEdge Foam Encasement. This is a thick foam wall around the sides and ends of the mattress. BeautyEdge is penetrated by vents for the exchange of air in the mattress. BeautyEdge protects the coils, keeping them in place. It also supports the edge of the sleeping surface. The side panels of the cover are highly permeable to facilitate this ventilation.

EnergyFoam™ replaces fabric for encasing individual coils. It is engineered to endure the ups and downs of coil pockets.

Triton Foundation

The recommended foundations for Recharge World Class mattresses are Simmons' Triton Foundation and the Renew Powerbase and Renew Plus Powerbase adjustable beds. Triton is an advanced design box spring with more consistent support than traditional box springs. Support by a reliable foundation is a requirement of the warranty. Slatted foundations, such as european wood slats, should have less than 2" between slats. Platform beds are also acceptable.

A few retailers are carrying the 2015 Beautyrest Recharge World Class mattresses. They will become more widely available as the older models are sold out. They carry a 10-year non-prorated manufacturer's waranty from Simmons.
