Natural Silk Elegance Comfort Adjust GEL

The Natural Silk Elegance Comfort Adjust GEL is a memory foam mattress made by BedInABox, a manufacturer of specialty sleep (non-innerspring) mattresses. This model features natural silk in the cover and an adjustable layer for customizing the comfort. These are in addition to the primary comfort layer of gel memory foam and the support core of high resiliency foam.

Cover
The cover fabric of the BedInABox Natural Silk Elegance Comfort Adjust GEL is natural silk. Made from the cocoons of silk moth pupae, silk is one of the strongest natural fibers, strong enough that is has been used for parachutes and ropes. Not only strong, silk is also soft, and it has for centuries been coveted for luxury clothing. It is also absorbent, drawing moisture away from sleepers for a dry sleeping surface. This silk fabric is quilted with plush quilting foam, memory foam and polyester fibers.

Adjustable Zone
Next to the cover of the Natural Silk Elegance Comfort Adjust GEL is a zippered compartment for a foam layer. This is called the "Adjustable Personal Comfort Zone." BedInABox provides a choice of layers for this zone: a 3" reversible memory foam topper or a 3" extra plush memory foam topper. The comfort level of the mattress can be changed by turning the topper over. Between the two toppers, there are four gradations of the comfort level.

Comfort Layer
This 3" comfort layer of the Natural Silk Elegance Comfort Adjust GEL is BedInABox's CoolRest® gel-infused memory foam. While memory foam offers conforming support, gel beads infused into the foam enhance the support of the memory foam while cooling the material by wicking heat away to dissipate.

Support Core
The 6" support core of the Natural Silk Elegance Comfort Adjust GEL by BIAB is made of base foam with a high resiliency. Since memory foam is so conforming, it needs a firmer material to undergird it. The HR comfort core supports the overlying memory foam, keeping it from bottoming out. This means that the user is adequately supported for spinal health.

Foundation
For the Natural Silk Elegance Comfort Adjust GEL, BedInABox recommends its 8" American Hardwood Foundation. This platform base is designed and built especially for memory foam mattresses. It is made of kiln-dried poplar and covered with quilted silk upholstery to match the mattress. It is shipped as a boxed kit, and BIAB says it takes a half-hour or less to set it up. It can also be disassembled for moving. This foundation fits within the metal bed frames sold by BIAB.


Warranty
BedInABox has a 120-day "Zero-Risk" guarantee and a 20-year warranty on the Natural Silk Elegance Comfort Adjust GEL mattress. The 8" American Hardwood Foundation has a 5-year warranty. The Natural Silk Elegance Comfort Adjust GEL is sold online by BedInABox and shipped to customers factory-direct. It is also sold by a few select retailers.
