The Natural Silk Elegance GEL by Bed-In-A-Box is a gel memory foam mattress about 13" high. The three major components of this model are:

BedInABox's overview of the Natural Silk Elegance GEL mattress is: "The Silk Elegance is the ultimate in luxury look and feel. Its quilted comfort layer provides a traditional look and plush feel, but still allows the support layer underneath to help put your body in the correct sleeping position so you can wind down and fully relax. This cover features a high-end tailored look and is made right here in the USA, a great addition to your sleep experience."

Natural Silk Cover - The fabric of the quilted cover of the Natural Silk Elegance GEL is made with natural silk, which is among the strongest organic fibers in nature (for example, before the widespread use of nylon, parachutes were made of silk). The natural attributes of silk include moisture absorbency, softness, shape stability, and breathability. This silk fabric is quilted with 3 padding layers: 2 of soft quilting foam and 1 of polyester microfiber quilting fill.

CoolRest Gel™ Infused Memory Foam - According to the company, their memory foam is "the most technologically advanced ... in the world." It is made in North Carolina by BASF. As memory foam, the CoolRest responds to heat and weight to conform to a sleepr's body contours. This reduces pressure points by distributing weight evenly, taking pressure off certain parts of the body, such as the shoulders and hips. Then when the weight is lifted, the memory foam returns to its original shape (the "memory" in memory foam).

The gel makes the visco memory foam more supportive and cools the sleeping surface by conveying heat to where it can be dissipated. According to the company, it is cooler than earlier memory foams.

High Resiliency Support Foam - This is the principal support of the Natural Silk Elegance GEL. The purpose of this HR foam is orthopedic: supporting the spine so that it is properly aligned. According to BedInABox, this high resiliency foam has long-term consistent performance, being very durable, more so than the foams used by most companies. It is supposed to be suitable for sleeping on ones back, side or stomach.

BedInABox promises that the Natural Silk Elegance GEL will have "a traditional look and plush feel," yet be fully supportive. All this can be compressed, wrapped, and put into a shipping box for delivery by FedEx or UPS.

BedInABox makes and sells an 8" American Hardwood Foundation, made from kiln-dried premium hardwood. This foundation is preferred over box springs, because it fully supports the memory foam mattress. This foundation is shipped as a kit to be assembled on site. This makes it easy to get it into any house or apartment.

Like other BedInABox mattresses, Natural Silk Elegance GEL can be ordered online from the manufacturer. There is also a handful of select retailers selling BedInABox, but for most consumers, online odering is the option. The Natural Silk Elegance GEL has a 20/10 warranty: 20-Year Limited Warranty with the first 10 years full replacement.
