The second series of mattresses listed by Berkeley Ergonomics is Double Coil Models. The basic models in this series are DC Swedish N, Active Zone XP, and BE 3000, corresponding to the three basic Single Coil Models (Interactive, Active Zone SC, and BE 1500). Like the lighter series, the three Double Coil Models are differentiated by the sub-types of pocket coils in these innerspring mattresses.
What qualifies these models as "double coil" is the layer of minicoils above the base coils. These coils also differentiate the models: in the Active Zone XP both the Swedish Active Zone base coils and the X-Pocket minicoils are pre-compressed. They are also parallel coils, while in the other two models they are nested.
The BE 3000, like the BE 1500, has a base layer of 1500 nested pocket coils. The DC Swedish N has the "flexible" Swedish base coils, more conforming than those in the BE 3000.
All models in the Double Coil Models series have a 1" layer of Talalay latex atop the minicoil layer. This perforated resilient foam is not heat sensitive like memory foam, so the sleeper can easily move around when needed. Talalay latex foam is hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant.
All Double Coil Models by Berkeley Ergonomics share the same organic materials in their covers: cotton channel quilted to wool. The wool serves as the fire barrier to meet federal open-flame standards.
Double Coil Models are available in stores from California to Massachussetts and from Texas to Alberta. There are four firmness levels to choose from. Berkeley Ergonomics covers Double Coil Models with a 10-year non-prorated warranty.
