Presidential Specialty Foam Line

Presidential Collection logo

One interesting ascpect of the Presidential Specialty Foam Line is that it mattresses are not named after United States presidents, as models are in the other series of the Presidential Collection by BIA Mattresses (BIAM).

Another aspect of interest is that these models are identical to models in the Eastman House Latex Collection of sister company Eastman House Bedding (both companies are part of Bedding Industries of America, along with Eclipse International and Therapedic International). This similarity includes even the names of the models, their descriptions, and the photos of the models. This is not extremely surprising, since the factories making BIAM mattresses also produce Eastman House models.

The Presidential Specialty Foam Line has three models, all latex mattresses. They are (with their heights) are Bedding Industries Latex II (10"), Bedding Industries Latex III (11"), and Bedding Industries Latex IV (12"). The signature component of these mattresses is Talalay latex. Each model has a layer of 24-ILD latex, 2" in Latex II and Latex IV, and 3" in Latex III. Latex IV, the highest model, adds a 1" layer of 19-ILD Talalay latex.

Each Specialty Foam mattress has a 6" support core of high density polyurethane foam. This is the standard support foam for most all-foam mattresses by all manufacturers, though there are some special exceptions. Some latex mattresses have a core of either Dunlop or Talalay latex. And a few memory foam mattresses have a latex support core (these are known as "all-foam hybrid mattresses").

The layer just above the support core is 2⅛" of Comfort-Flex cushion foam. Then the 24-ILD latex.

In Latex II and Latex III, the layer atop the 24-ILD latex is 7/16" high-density comfort foam.

Each mattress in the Presidential Specialty Foam Line is wrapped in a Flame Resistant (FR) sock. The nature of this FR is not disclosed in manufacturer or retailer descriptions. Over this is the cover of "luxurious" circular-knit fabric. The fiber is not named, but is most likely either cotton or polyester. As can be seen in the photos with the raised design, this is damask. The pattern is distinctive to each model. The cover is zippered.

BIA provides a foundation especially suitable for latex mattresses (it also works well with memory foam mattresses). This base is made of wood and is 8" high.

Presidential Specialty Foam mattresses cover by a BIAM warranty for 15 years non-prorated. They are available through BIA affiliated retailers.
