Violet is one of the mattresses produced by South Bay International under the Blissful Nights brand. Along with the Jasmine, Lily and Kai, it is available in stores, not online as Dahlia, Blossom and Peony. The overall height and the construction are the same as in the 11" high Sleep Science Carina (sold only by Costco), except for the heights of the first and third comfort layers. With the third layer down being latex, Violet may be considered a latex mattress and memory foam mattress hybrid.
The support core of the Blissful Nights Violet is South Bay's Air Channel Base. This 6" layer of extra firm polyurethane foam is relief cut in a grid on the top surface to channel air into and out of the mattress interior. This cools the memory foam from the bottom, with air flowing through vertical pores in the latex layer above.
Just above the support core is a 2" layer of Talalay latex. Latex foam is resistant to microbes and fungi. It is also resilient, providing a little bounce to the conforming memory foam above.
The next layer up is 2" of 4-lb. visco-elastic memory foam. Along with the slightly lighter foam in the next layer, it conforms to the sleeper's body contours to support the lower spine and relieve pressure on larger parts such as the hips and shoulders.
The 1" top comfort layer in the Violet mattress from Blissful Nights is 3-lb. memory foam infused with gel for cooling and enhanced support.
The two memory foam layers are belted around the perimeter by South Bay's Wedge Edge foam encasement. This 3" x 3" high density foam rail with a triangular cross-section serves as edge support for the sleeping surface.
The cover of the Blissful Nights Violet mattress has a knit top panel with a printed pattern and dark brown sides. The top has a zipper to make it removeable and washable.
The Violet can be used on the Blissful Nights Adjustable Base, the same as Motion Trend, the South Bay International adjustable bed sold by Costco under the Sleep Science brand. Violet is compatible with some other foundations, such as platform beds and box-framed bases with solid tops.
The Blissful Nights Violet is covered by South Bay International with a 20-year limited warranty. The foam is made in China in a factory owned in partnership with South Bay.
