Boyd Natural Flex Latex
Boyd Natural Flex Latex mattresses made by
Boyd Specialty Sleep feature natural latex, made from the sap of the Amazonian rubber tree (grown in South America and SE Asia). Natural latex is known for several beneficial properties. It is resistant to fungi (such as mold and mildew), bacteria, and dust mites. It is also resilient and durable (though it may tear). Also, it can be bent or compressed to fit through doorways, around corners, and in stairwells.
The inherent beneficial properties may be enhanced in a number of ways. For instance, Boyd Specialty Sleep employs channelized venting to improve air flow through the mattress for a cooling effect as well as ventilation to keep it fresh. And Boyd varies the density of the latex in three zones to tailor its support to the shape and weight of the sleeper's body. Natural latex may also be combined or infused with other substances, such as gel, to add other desired properties.
Mattresses in the
Boyd Natural Flex Latex collection are covered in a fabric of bamboo-derived rayon which, like the latex, is anti microbial. These covers also utilize Coolmax, fibers developed by Invista to wick moisture away to keep the sleeping surface dry (Coolmax is also used by other bedding manufacturers for this same purpose).
There are three series of
Boyd Natural Flex Latex mattresses:
Natural Flex Ultra (Ultra Premium Natural Talalay Latex Foam Mattresses),
Natural Flex Supreme (Natural Latex Foam Mattresses), and
Natural Flex Original (Engineered Latex Foam Mattresses).
Natural Flex Ultra, the newest series with four models, features cores of premium Talalay latex, cashmere in the quilted top, and a cotton-rayon blend in the cover. This series also uses channeled ventilation in all foam levels as well as triple-zone density. The top layer has Talalay latex, which also employs pinhole ventilation. The bottom layer, the base - called "Foamspring" - has high density support foam. The foams in the layers of the Ultra series are progressive in their firmness. The Ultra mattresses range from 11" to 14" in height.
The Boyd Specialty Sleep
Natural Flex Supreme series features tri-zone foam in at least two layers to enhance lumbar support for the sleepers. Most of these mattresses have at least four layers. The middle layers use engineered foam, which is a blend of natural and synthetic latex. Air flow is facilitated by vented foam, channelization, and in some models convoluted foam. Some models have silk included in the fibers of the cover fabric.
The mattresses in the
Natural Flex Original series by Boyd Specialty Sleep feature a multi-channel air flow system with channels in the top and base layers on the surfaces facing the middle layer. The top layer is made of triple-zoned and ventilated engineered latex. The middle layer is Boyd's HD "Reflexa" foam. The base layer is Boyd's "FoamSpring" HD support foam.
Boyd Natural Flex Latex mattresses may be used with a number of bases. Preferred bases are platform foundations and adjustable beds. The warranty may be 20 years with some retailers and 15 with others.
