Carolina Collection Mattress Line
The mattresses of the Carolina Collection Mattress Line distributed and sold by Carolina Bedding Direct are made by the Five Star Mattress Company, a subsdiary of Serta International.
The Five Star mattresses are in 5 collections: Five Star Mattress Collection, Five Star Mattress Specialty Collection, GelActive Collection, True Luxury Collection (TLC), Pro-Comfort Collection, Esteemed Collection, and Essential Element Collection. The variety of mattress types - innerspring, foam, and hybrid - echoes the Serta lineup. Collectively, the Five Star mattrresses are called the Carolina Collection Mattress Line by Carolina Bedding Direct LLC.
Five Star Mattress Collection
The 6 models of the Five Star Mattress Collection are Callaway, Fiesta (Presta), Edison, Humphrey, Trousdale, and Whitworth. The first three feature the PostureSmart innerspring support system, and the last three have the Verti-Coil innerspring support system. All come with a wood or steel foundation.
Five Star Mattress Specialty Collection
According to Five Star Mattress Company, "The Five Star Specialty Mattress Collection is an all foam line of mattresses built to the highest standard with premium features. All Specialty collection mattresses are available with wood or steel foundations." The models are Arrow Creek, Kind hearted and Zimmerlee Supreme. Their thickness range from 14" to 17" of foam over a 6" innerspring (or box spring) unit.
GelActive Collection
The mattresses in the GelActive Collection feature a top layer of gel-infused memory foam, which is designed to conduct body heat away from the sleepers rather than let it build up. The model names - GL8, GL10, GL12 - indicate the relative height of this layer.
True Luxury Collection (TLC)
The True Luxury Collection of Five Star mattresses features the "744 Individually Wrapped Coil with Foam Encasement." This consists of coils which are wrapped individually so that they can independently respond to pressures of the shape of the user's body. This is to reduce the soreness of pressure points. This concept is also a key feature of Serta's Perfect Sleeper series. The TLC models are Harbor Creek, Stonebriar, Pebblewood, Buterscotch, Caramel, and English Toffee. The detail pages for the last three models label them as "Essential Elements."
Pro-Comfort Collection
The key feature of the Five Star Mattress Company's Pro=Comfort Collection is the "Mira Coil," which is a "continuous wire" configuration of the innersprings. Five Star claims that this "Head-to-Toe Coil Construction" will contribute to correct spinal posture and minimize transfer of motion. The company says, "Rows of continuous coils run head-to-toe, with each coil attaching to its neighbor, for the durability and stability needed to provide support while absorbing motion." This system is supported by a "Foam Encasement."
The models of the Pro-Comfort Collection, Cranbrook, Diamond Crest, and Fox Creek,
each featuring the "Gel Active Memory Foam," differ in the thickness of the gel foam and the choice and thickness of other foams. Also, pillowtops are available.
Esteemed Collection
The Esteemed Collection of Five Star mattresses has three models: Chancy, Boswell, and Trace Winds. It features the VertiCoil™ Edge Innerspring. Five Star claims that this design of the coils results in "35% increased surface coverage when compared to other value-priced innerspring systems" with a better body contour response. Comfort level choices are firm, plush and pillowtop.
Essential Elements Collection
The Essential Elements Collection of the Five Star Mattress Company has all-foam matresses. Five Star says, "From our extremely breathable and responsive Talalay Latex to our pressure-relieving Kool Comfort™ Memory Foam, this collection offers some of today’s most advanced foam technologies." The Essential Elements mattresses share these features:
* Designer Fabric quilted to anti-microbial fiber and Minimum Pressure Foam.
* Comfort Layers of Kool Comfort Memory Foam, Natural Talalay Latex, and Minimum Pressure Foam.
* Support Core of 6" high performance foam core with Enhanced Perimeter Edge Support.
* Steel foundation.
