Chiro-Tech Coil (eXtended Life) Series

The Chiro-Tech Coil Series by King Koil is a collection of mattresses for large persons. The three models listed on the company's site are Residency XL, Presidency XL and Basic XL. According to King Koil, they are "better built for plus-size sleepers." However, other models appear on retailers' sites, such as Kalli and Lucinda for Zen Bedrooms.

Support

The striking feature ofChiro-Tech is the coils. The description fits that of offset coils. The shape of the heads is between elliptical and rectangular, and the coil itself is a mild hourglass shape. one coil is linked to the next in a row with helical wire, making hinge-like connection. The advantages King Koil claims for this design over Bonnell coils are more flexibility and greater coil density, to the level of pocket coils. They also say that the hourglass profile makes it suitable for both heavy and light users. Another claim King Koil makes is affordability. These coils can be produced and linked by automated machinery.

Comfort

The comfort layer of a Chiro-Tech Coil mattress is King Koil's latex, called eXtended Life Rebound Latex. The benefits cited are "better weight distribution" and flexibility, helping in the reduction of pressure and promoting anatomically correct spinal posture. The XL models are 10½, 12½ and 14½ inches high, while the ones at Zen are all 15 inches. The cover is quilted stretch-knit organic cotton.

Availability and Warranty

The distribution of Chiro-Tech Coil Series mattresses appears to be limited, probably because of the specialized design. However, they can be purchased directly from King Koil. As to the warranty, the company says, "Every King Koil mattress carries a 10-year pro-rated Warranty against manufacturing defects."
