Classic Brands currently lists five mattress collections, including the Classic Mattress Cool Gel Foam Collection. Models in three of these collections, including this one, are listed in Classic Brands's E-Commerce Collections. All of this collection's models are in the E-Commerce Gel Foam Collection.
The Cool Gel foam Collection has four models, Cool Gel 6", Cool Gel 8", Cool Gel 10.5", and Cool Gel 12". Each model has a base layer of high-density polyurethane foam. This is 5" high in the Cool Gel 6", and 6" in the others. This base layer keeps the upper layers of the mattresses from over-flexing, thus prolonging their usable life. It also acts as a shock aborber.
The top layer in each Cool Gel Foam mattress is Classic Brands' Cool Gel Foam, memory foam infused with gel. The company claims that particles of gel help the memory foam be more breathable. They say that gel foam is more porous.
Gel also absorbs heat for an initial cooling effect. This gel memory foam is ventilated for airflow to promote both cooling and freshness. The Cool Gel layer is 1" high in the 6" model, 2" in the 8" model, and 3" in the 12" model. The specific height of this layer is not given for the 10.5" mattress.
The two lower models have only two layers each. The two higher ones have middle "support" layers. These are gel-infused polyurethane foam, labeled AirFlow Gel-Supportive Foam. These are not firm, as is the base foam, but plush or medium plush. The top surfaces of these layers are channel-cut to allow air to escape to the sides of the mattress for additional cooling. In the Cool Gel 12" Mattress, these are 1.5" high. Height is not specified for those in the 10.5" model.
Although layer height is not specified in the Cool Gel Foam 10.5", it can be estimated. Assuming that the base layer is the same height as in the 12" model, each of the three upper layers need only to be ½" lower to account for the 1½" overall difference. This would mean a 2.5" Cool Gel layer and two 1" AirFlow layers.
The fibers in the cover fabrics are not specified either by Classic Brands or by retailers. Classic Brands does use rayon from bamboo in some covers on its mattresses, and cotton on others. It could be either of these or polyester. However, the cover is a sculptured 4-way stretch knit, and the side borders are breathable.
Cool Gel Foam Collection mattresses are available though several retailers online and in stores. This includes national retailers such as Wayfair, Amazon and Walmart. Also available are Classic Brands bases, such as the Hercules line of foldable steel foundations. Sometime soon, the new boxable adjustable bed from Classic Brands will be available.
Warranties on Classic Brands Gel Foam Collection mattresses are for 5 or 10 years, depending on the model.
