Besides mattresses for regular beds, Classic Brands also makes mattresses for sofabeds. They have three models for these fold-up beds hidden under the cushions of couches: Memory Foam Sofa Mattress, Cool Gel Memory Foam Sofa Mattress, Innerspring Sofa Mattress.
Classic Sofabed Mattresses are sold by retailers as replacement mattresses for sofabeds. Each sofabed model is available in three sizes, Twin, Full and Queen. Twin-size goes into a one-cushion sofabed chair, Full into a two-cushion couch, and Queen into a three-cushion couch.
The Classic Memory Foam Sofa Mattress is 4½" high. It is made of two layers. The 2½" bottom layer of 2-lb. high-density memory foam with fast recovery. It is very firm to provide necessary underlying firm support. The 2" top layer is 4-lb. memory foam, soft enough to give the mattress a Plush overall feel. The top memory foam is open-cell for air flow to make it cooler.
The cover of this memory foam mattress is 4-way stretch knit. The fiber is not named.
The Classic Cool Gel Memory Foam Sofa Mattress is also 4½" high and has two layers. Dense foam forms the lower support layer. The upper comfort layer is gel-infused memory foam. According to Classic Brands, this foam is more porous than regular memory foam, with more airflow for cooling. The relative thicknesses of the two layers is not specified, but it would be safe to say that for a mattress of this height they are the same as in the Memory Foam Sofa Mattress. The overall feel is Plush.
The cover of the Cool Gel Memory Foam Sofa Mattress is a knit matelasse (a type of brocade or damask). The four-way stretch comforms to the foam and the sleeper.
The Classic Innerspring Sofa Mattress is higher than the two foam models. The support is firm steel coils. The cushioning of this innerspring mattress is fiber padding. Judging from this, the coils are probably 4¾" to 5" high, allowing for ¼" to ½" of padding. The feel is Medium Plush.
The type of coils is not named, nor are they pictured. Judging from the prices and the precedent of other brands of sofa mattresses, they are Bonnell coils without perimeter rods.
All of the Classic Sofabed Mattresses are compressed for shipping. Understandably, the innerspring mattress cannot be rolled as tightly as the foam ones. This enables them to be economically shipped.
Warranties seem to vary by model and retailers. On Amazon, the warranty for the Memory Foam and Innerspring models are for 3 years, and the one for the Gel Memory Foam is for 25. These mattresses are available through several retailers.
