Unlike the other Amerisleepmemory foam mattresses, the 14" high Colonial Bed has three layers instead of two. It is also the softest, with a firmness of 2 on a scale of 10. Also, its conformity level is high. Amerisleep compares it to the Tempur-PedicTEMPUR-Cloud™ Lu xe.
The cover of the Colonial Bed contains natural bamboo fibers and is hypo-allergenic and dust-mite resistant. The micro-fiber side panels are hazel colored. fire safety is provided by the Green Guard fire sock.
The Amerisleep Colonial Bed has two comfort layers with differing weights of memory foam. The upper layer is 2½" of HD Bio-Pur (5⅓ lbs, 10 ILD), while the 3½" lower layer is standard Bio-Pur (4½ lbs, 12 ILD). This is "plant-based" foam, lower in petroleum polyols than regular memory foam. It also has an extremely high open-cell structure to allow more air flow.
The support core is 8" of Bio-Core support base foam with a density of 2 lbs and an ILD of 35. This core undergirds the entire mattress to provide deep support. At 6" combined, the comfort layers are ¾ the height of the support core to yield a plush feeling with the firm support.
Platform foundations are usually recommended for memory foam mattresses. The Colonial Bed, as well as the other Amerisleep models, is listed as adjustable bed compatible. Amerisleep sells four models of adjustable beds, two each by Ergomotion and Leggett & Platt.
The Amerisleep manufacturers warranty on the Colonial Bed is for 20 years. The first 10 years are sully covered, and the last 10 are prorated.
