Columbus Bed is the firmest of five
memory foam mattress models made and sold by
Amerisleep. Besides being very firm,
Columbus also has low conformity.
Amerisleep compares this model with the
Tempur-Pedic Simplicity and
Serta iComfort Insight.
The
Columbus Bed is a two-layer mattress, with a 2" comfort layer and a 6" support core.
Amerisleep says that it "maintains consistent pressure relieving support." It is made in the United States.
The comfort layer consists of
Amerisleep's
memory foam,
Bio-Pur. It has a density of 4½ lbs. and a ILD of 12. This foam is "plant-based" and relatively odor-free, according to
Amerisleep.
The support core of the
Columbus Bed is made of
Amerisleep's
Bio-Core support foam. This is a 2-lb. density, 35-ILD foam used for firm undergirding support. It also is "plant-based" and "odor-free." According to the company, it is approved by the
Sustainable Furnishings Council.
The white
cover is made of breathable fabric and is claimed to be hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites. Federal flammability standards are met by a
Green Guard fire sock.
The
Columbus Bed carries
Amerisleep's 20-year (10+10) warranty. The first 10 years are full repair/replacement coverage. The remaining 10 years are pro-rated. It is available online through
