Legendary Comfort is a plush model in the
Beautyrest Comforpedic line by
Simmons. Some retailers use the names
Sophisticated Rest or
Enlightened Comfort for online orders.
Beautyrest Comforpedic boasts of having "The Better Memory Foam." They cite their research and development of
memory foam. Two concerns addressed by this research are the "sinking feeling" and heat build-up. Both are dealt with by how the memory foam is structured in the
AirCool memory foam. Open-cell design makes it more resilient and also allows air to flow through the foam, cooling it. Adding gel to some versions of the foam smooths out support while the gel acts as a heat sink, drawing heat away from the sleeping surface. And some versions of
AirCool memory foam contain phase change materials (PCMs) for temperature control.

Legendary Comfort is 14" high, and the comfort level is Plush, 6.5 on a scale of 10. Like all Comforpedic models, it is a memory foam mattress. The Evenloft Quilt Design cover is a circular knit fabric which includes fire retardant fibers.
The 2" top layer is AirCool memory foam with TruTemp gel. TruTemp has PCMs to keep the temperature within the desired range. Phase change materials absorb heat when the temperature is above the range, and release heat when below it.
The next layer is 1" of 2.5-lb. Advanced AirCool memory foam. The middle third of this layer has a gel pad for lumbar support.
Next is a 3" layer of 5.5-lb. Luxury AirCool memory foam, still conforming, but firmer for increasing support.
Below the Luxury AirCool is the 2" Multi Action Support Layer. This is multiple support layers which are to work together providing support and cooling the mattress with airflow. This layer is a transition to the primary support core.
Basic support for the Beautyrest Comforpedic Legendary Comfort is the AirCoolŽ TransflexionŽ Core. The Transflexion is precompressed to remove "false firmness." For the consumer, this should mean that initial firmness is the same as long-term.
AirCoolŽ Design is a system of keeping the mattress cool. The principal method is fostering airflow by using open-cell foams, air channels and/or convoluted surfaces, pores, air vents, and a mesh border all the way around the mattress.
Since Legendary Comfort is a memory foam mattress, it needs more support than an innerspring. The suede-covered Comforpedic foundation, Triton, is designed especially for memory foam mattresses. It comes in two heights: 9" Standard and 5.5" Low Profile. This model is also compatible with Simmons' NuFlex adjustable bed.
Legendary Comfort is covered by the Simmons 25-year limited warranty. It is available through several retailers, both in stores and online.
