Comforpedic Sophisticated Comfort

Ultra plush Sophisticated Comfort is the top model in the Beautyrest Comforpedic line by Simmons at this time. Its features include Evenloft Quilt Design, AirCool Memory Foam with TruTemp Gel, Advanced AirCool® Memory Foam, Luxury AirCool® Memory Foam, AirCool® Transflexion® Core, and AirCool® Design, plus a Multi Action Support Layer.

Comforpedic is Beautyrest's memory foam collection. Other than the support cores, the mattresses in this collection are made of memory foam. Within the is variety. Since it was first introduced, many versions of memory foam have been developed to meet specific requirements. These variations are in composition, configuration, densities, indentation ratings, and infused materials such as gel and latex.

Evenloft Quilt Design - An unquilted smoothly knit cover fabric with embedded fire retardant fibers stretches to fit the mattress and the sleeper. This lets the user experience the full benefit of top AirCool Memory Foam layer of the mattress.

AirCool Memory Foam with TruTemp Gel - The memory foam in this 2" layer is infused with not just any gel, but with TruTemp Gel. TruTemp is a gel containing Phase Change Materials (PCMs). PCMs change their physical state in reponse to changes in temperature, a kind of "Goldilocks" effect. Their role is to keep the temperature within a desired range. If it gets too warm, the PCMs liquify, absorbing heat. If it gets too cool, they solidify, releasing heat. Just as memory foam was first developed for the space program, so was the use of PCMs. They are used in spacesuits.

Advanced AirCool® Memory Foam - In this 1" layer, the 2.5-lb. density Advanced AirCool® Memory Foam is more supportive than the top layer. Not only, but the middle third has a layer of Polyworks Gel for additional lumbar support.

Luxury AirCool® Memory Foam - This 3", 5.5-lb. memory foam layer is even more supportive, but still conforming. It works with the other memory foams above to relieve pressure points. Still, it is part of the AirCool® Design.

AirCool® Design - This encompasses the entire mattress. Memory foam soon developed a reputation for being too hot. The first solution was to promote air flow, make the memory foam breathable. Ventilating the foam by perforation or by cutting channels in its surface allowed air to flow through it and by it. Then manufacturers began to make the cells in the foam open and more connected to make the foam itself permeable to air. Now it is common practice to infuse the memory foam with gel in one form or another to act as a heat sink and carry the heat away. But the AirCool® Design does not stop with memory foam configuration. It also includes the foam encasement. The foam edge is cut through with air channels to permit and interchange of air. The part of the cover outside this encasement is a mesh, so the cover itself is not an air barrier. This way, even when the owners use an impermeable mattress protector, the mattress can still remain cool at the sleeping surface.

The AirCool BeautyEdge Foam Encasement stabilizes the whole mattress, especially supporting the sleeping surface. This is to prevent roll-off and edge sag.

Multi Action Support Layer - Between the AirCool memory foam layers and the support core is the Multi Action Support Layer. This is not just one layer, but several working together for support. They also are designed for air flow.

AirCool® Transflexion® Core - This high density support foam is to provide orthopedic support for the users. It also is support for the conforming foams above it, preventing them from sagging or letting the sleepers feel like they're "falling through." Good support helps the memory foam to last longer.

Two foundations are listed for the Comforpedic Sophisticated Comfort are the Beautyrest Comforpedic Triton Foundation, covered with suede fabric to match the mattress cover. This Triton is designed especially for memory foam mattresses. It comes in two heights: 9" Standard and 5.5" Low Profile. Also listed is the NuFlex Adjustable Foundation. The Comforpedic Sophisticated Comfort is warrantied for 25 years.
