ComfortAire DreamAire Celesta

The Celesta adjustable airbed from ComfortAire’s DreamAire collection is a 14 inch thick adjustable air bed featuring very few of the components found in other DreamAire series beds. From the top, you have the quilted cover with 2.25 inches of foam/fiber fill. Moving downward, you encounter 2.5 inches of very soft memory foam, then the thinner 3.5 inch adjustable air core. The air chambers are not contained in a perimeter foam case, but rather extend to the edge of the bed. Below the air core is another cover layer (separating the air chambers and comfort layers into a euro-top), and then a base support layer of a specialized foam ComfortAire calls Omalon foam.

The Omalon has a fabric cover, and is surrounded by the foam perimeter. Omalon, according to ComfortAire’s website uses an oval-shaped foam cell which lays down in the forming process. ComfortAire stated this is a more uniform method for foam cells and provides a consistent feel regardless of weight applied. To help visualize this, imagine stacking footballs. If you nest the thickest part of one football in the pocket formed near the points of the two footballs below it, it will be more stable than a stack of soccer balls.

With the air chambers of the Celesta adjustable airbed added to the euro-top layer rather than a support layer, it will change the complexion of how the adjustable portion of the airbed changes the feel. Since you are no longer relying on the air chambers for support, it would be possible to achieve a softer overall feel and still be supported accurately, even at very low pressures. The feel should be ultra plush, but still supportive. The memory foam and two cover padding layers will assist in achieving this feel.

Design restrictions on this airbed prohibit the option of a standard twin size, and the only single chamber model offered is a twin extra long, or twin XL. Full, queen, and both king sizes are available in the dual chamber models, with the queen starting at about $3000.00 with the base and 20 year warranty.
