Corsicana Bedding says its Luxury Hybrid Collection was "designed for those seeking ultimate comfort and support." The definition of a hybrid mattress is one with two kinds of support. Practically, primary support in a hybrid mattress is in the bottom section, the support core. The upper section is the comfort core. Ideally, in a hybrid mattress the comfort section is a sizable enough portion of the mattress to contribute to the support. In many mattresses touted as hybrids, the top sections constitutes such a small portion of the mattresses' height that their qualification as "hybrids" is questionable. However, models in the Corsicana Luxury Hybrid Collection can justifiably be called hybrids.
Two of the key features of mattresses in the Luxury Hybrid Collection are Corsicana's Cool Reflections Gel and Quad Coil Technology. CoolReflections is ventilated memory foam infused with gel for cooling and support enhancement. Quad Coil Technology is microcoils, a type of pocket coils (also called Marshall coils in innerspring units). In the Corsicana Luxury Hybrid mattresses, these are used in combination with innerspring units.
Individual models of Corsicana Luxury Hybrid mattresses are usually named by retailers or retail groups. Two Luxury Hybrid models carried by Michigan Discount Mattresses are the Europa 1000 Gel Microcoil and the Euphoria III. Euphoria II models are sold by other mattress retailers, and Europa by at least one other retailer.
Take as examples the Euphoria II and Euphoria III. Euphoria II is availble as a 14½" Pillowtop and a 15" Super Euro Pillowtop. Both the Euphoria II and Euphoria III have the Cool Reflections gel memory foam in the top under a quilted cover of blended organic cotton and cashmere. Also in the top section are microcoils, one layer in the Euphoria II and two in the Euphoria III. The coil count in a micrcoil layer is 2000. The Euphoria III, at least, adds comfort foam to the top section.
Both models have lumbar support. In the Euphoria II it is gel memory foam, while the Euphoria III has both the gel memory foam and latex.
The basic support for Corsicana's Euphoria and Europa models is 460-count pocket coils. These individually wrapped coils, also known as VertiCoils, respond individually for conforming support. Combined with the micro-coils and the memory foam, this dampens motion transfer to minimize sleeping partner disturbance when one sleeper moves or gets out of or into bed.
Edge support in all these hybrid mattresses comes from foam encasement. This makes the sleeping surface totally usable clear to the edges. It also helps prevent rolling off, because the edge does not sag. Also, one can sit on the edge of the bed without sliding off.
A cloth-covered wooden platform with upholstered sides is the provided foundation for the Corsicana Luxury Hybrid mattresses. Also available through the retailers are steel foundations, which allow storage under the bed. These mattress are compatible with adjustable beds.
Warranties on Luxury Hybrid Collection mattresses by Corsicana vary by retailer, ranging from 5-10 years. Sleep trials also differ among dealers.
