Caress Series is one of two series in the CoolTouchGEL Collection in the CoolTouch Collections line of memory foam mattresses by Diamond Mattress. The other model is Ambrosia.
Primary support for Caress models is Diamond Mattress's plant-based high-density Eco-Flex foam. The comfort level is governed by Diamond Mattress's CoolTouchGEL Memory Foam. This memory foam has an open-cell structure (now common among bedding manufacturers) and is infused with gel beads. Open-cell structure makes memory foam more resilient. It also makes it breathable, allowing air to percolate through it. Gel is a heat conductor, carrying heat away from the sleeping surface to counter memory foam's tendendency to accumulate body heat until it becomes too warm for comfortable sleep. Gel also enhances memory foam's support characteristics.
CoolTouchGEL Memory Foam is also vertically ventilated to maximize airflow, furthering the cooling effect. Diamond Mattress claims that CoolTouchGEL Memory Foam is "12 times more breathable than other nationally advertised memory foam products."
CoolTouchGEL Caress has two sub-models, Caress Luxe and Caress Supreme. The 10½" Supreme is "Medium Plush" (5 on a 1-10 scale). The 12½" Luxe has a comfort level of "Luxury Plush" (3), showing the effect of two more inches of foam.
An advertised feature of the CoolTouchGEL Caress is Diamond Mattress's Direct Contact design. The multi-directional stretch knit cover fabric has no stiff components. It is highly flexible and conformable and is the only thing between the sleeper and the gel foam. DM says that his allows the user to directly experience the support and coolness of the mattress foams.
Diamond Mattress recommends its own upholstered hardwood foundation or adjustable beds for use with CoolTouchGEL Collection mattresses, including those in the Caress Series. The Diamond Foundation is available in standard (8") or low profile (4") height.
The two adjustable beds provided by Diamond Mattress were the Pro-Motion Lifestyle Adjustable Base and S-Cape Lifestyle Adjustable Base made by Leggett & Platt. The have been replaced by two Body Logic models from Ergomotion: Activate Adjustable Lifestyle Base and Refuge Adjustable Lifestyle Base.
The CoolTouchGEL Caress Series mattresses carry Diamond Mattress's 25-year warranty. However, DM adds this note: "Although our mattresses have been tested and will last 25 years, we recommend changing every 8 to 10 years. As your body changes, your mattress needs will change over time."
