The Natural - All Foam Collection is the middle group of the three collections of Ethos Beds latex mattresses made by Diamond Mattress, Inc. The names of the collections reflect the compositions of their models.
Natural - All Foam is one of the two non-innerspring mattress collections, the other one being Organic. They illustrate the distinction between organic and natural. Organic Collection mattresses are made of organic materials: Organic wool, 100% natural latex, and organic cotton. Mattresses in the Natural - All Foam Collection have support cores and base pads of plant-oil based polyurethane with natural latex comfort layers in an organic cotton cover.
There is only one series in the Ethos Natural - All Foam Collection, Natural Peace Beds. In this series are three models: Peace Luxury Plush, Peace Luxury Medium, and Peace Luxury Firm. They are respectively 13", 11" and 10.5" in height, and with firmness ratings of 3, 6 and 8 on a 1-10 scale.
From the top, the cover is a stretch knit fabric of organic cotton. Organic cotton does not transmitt any pesticides or processing chemicals to the bed's users. The stretch knit conforms to both the sleeper and the latex foam at the same time. This is the essence of Diamond Mattress's Direct Contact design, which the company claims allows a sleeper to experience all the benefit of the top comfort layer. This cover is also breathable.
The top comfort layer is 2" of natural Talalay latex. It is 100% made from the sap of rubber trees. Latex naturally combines conformity and resilience. Latex is also resistant to various microbes, mildew and dust mites. Properly washed after curing, it is hypoallergenic. The Talalay latex used in the Natural Peace mattresses is ventilated for airflow to keep the mattress cool, dry and fresh.
Beneath the latex layer in the Natural Peace Beds are one or more comfort layers of Diamond Mattress Eco-Flex foam. Eco-Flex is plant-based, meaning it is made with polyols derived from plant oils. This is not only to reduce the use of petroleum, but to reduce odors and eliminate harmful substances. It is the thickness and firmness of these layers that governs the overall comfort level/firmness of the mattress.
The Eco-Flex support core and base pad are called "Orthopedic" by Diamond Mattress. They provide the essential support needed for the backbone and other joints. This underlying support also extends the life of the less firm foams above. The base pad is to be a shock absorber. It also transitions to the hard surface on which the mattress rests.
All specialty sleep mattresses, including those in the Ethos Natural - All Foam Collection, need sure support. Old-style box springs are not recommended. Instead, Diamond Mattress provides an upholstered box-type hardwood base with either fixed slats or a solid top. Other compatible foundations include European wood slats (if the slats are close enough to each other), platform beds, and adjustable bases. Diamond Mattress carries two Body Logic adjustable beds, Refuge Adjustable Lifestyle Base and Activate Adjustable Lifestyle Base, made by Ergomotion.
Natural - All Foam Collection mattresses carry a 20-year limited warranty from Diamond Mattress.
