Doctor Preferred Regency Series
Firm - Plush - Pillowtop

The Regency series of mattresses is in the Doctor Preferred collection of Ortho Mattress, Inc. (O-M), a mattress manufacturer and retailer in Southern California. When looking for this mattresses online, one needs to be careful not to be confused by similiar sounding models. Other mattress companies use the names "Ortho" and "Regency" for their mattresses, even including an "Ortho Regency."

Doctor Preferred is an O-M collection of innerspring mattresses with several models. The mattresses in this collection use the Doctor Preferred innerspring core. According to Ortho Mattress, the coils are "thicker than industry standards." They are "laced" with each other into a unit using "quality steel wire." Like all O-M mattresses, they are made in the USA.

The Regency models add memory foam to the innerspring core. The Regency Firm and Regency Plush are tight-top mattresses. The 12" Plush is an inch higher than the 11" Firm. The Regency Pillowtop is 12" like the Plush, but is a medium firmness and has a differently configured top.

The mattresses in the Doctor Preferred Regency series use two kinds of memory foam. The first is called by Ortho Mattress Certipur Memory Foam, the classic visco-elastic memory foam. The other is called Modern Memory Foam, otherwise known as "gel memory foam" - memory foam which has been infused with gel, either micro-encapsulated or swirled liquid gel. The primary reason for the gel is to cool the sleeping surface. The heat dissipating property of gel conveys the heat away from the sleepers' bodies. Gel also has its own support properties, depending on how it is infused into the foam and to what degree.

The covers of the Ortho Mattress Doctor Preferred Regency series are jump-and-tack quilted.

According to Ortho Mattress, the Regency mattresses may be used with either platform or adjustable foundations. These mattresses use "Solidstate edge support." They are sold through Ortho Mattress Stores, are made and shipped factory direct, and carry a 10-year non-prorated warranty.
