The 10" high Octaspring 6500 is the second lowest model of Octaspring Collection of memory foam mattresses by Dormeo, an international company formed to produce and market products utilizing the Octaspring foam spring developed by Belgian inventor Willy Poppe.
While entry level model Octaspring 5500 has only one layer of these innovative support components, the 6500 has two. The lower layer is for support, and the upper layer is for comfort. The top foam springs are 2" high MemoryCoils, made of memory foam for pressure-relieving conformability. The two firmnesses of MemoryCoils, Soft and Medium, are arranged in zones to configure support for 3 regions of the body: upper, central, and lower.
The lower level of 8-sided honeycombed columns are 2" high EcoSprings, made of Dormeo's Eco-Cell support foam. The five firmness levels of these support foam springs (Soft, Medium Soft, Medium, Medium Firm, Firm) are zoned for 5 body areas: head, upper body, middle body, lower body, feet. In both layers, the firmest coils are on the perimeter to provide edge support.
As with all other models in Dormeo's Octospring Collection, the 6500 has a top layer of memory foam. The foam spring layers are separated by a sheet of Eco-Cell. The bottom layer of this memory foam mattress is a 4" slab of Eco-Cell. The overall firmness of the Octaspring 6500 is between Medium and Firm.
The cover of the Octaspring 6500 has a breathable, "silky-soft" top panel and 360° wave air-mesh side panels. The mesh allows air to flow into and out of the mattress, facilitating the airflow produced by flexing the Octasprings. This cover resists dust mites and bacteria. The enhanced airflow not only cools the mattress; it keeps the interior of the mattress fresh and dry, reducing the chances of mold.
The Octaspring 6500 is billed as suitable for all sleep positions—side, back and stomach. The enhanced support and conformity coupled with cooling and motion isolation are credited with sounder sleep and more refreshed waking hours.
The photo of the Octaspring 6500 on the Dormeo website shows it being used with a divan. This model is also compatible with certain other foundations, such as platform bases, wood slats (closely-spaced), and adjustable beds.
The Octaspring 6500 is covered by Dormeo's 20-year warranty. For the first 10 years it is fully covered. For the remaining 10 years, coverage is prorated.
The Octaspring 6500 is available in several countries on half-a-dozen continents. In the United States it is carried by a number of retailers. In Canada it is carried exclusively by Sleep Country.
