The Octaspring 8000 memory foam mattress by Dormeo is the third highest model in their Octaspring Collection, and at 11" high, the lowest model with three layers of the innovative Octaspring foam springs. In this model, all three foam spring layers are 2" high, while in the Octaspring 8500 the top layer is 3" high, and all Octasprings are 3" high in the Octaspring 9500. The overall feel of the 8000 model is Medium.
The Octaspring 8000 shares the same cover composition and top comfort layer as the other Octaspring memory foam mattress models: a breathable "silky-soft" top panel with air-mesh sides, and 1½" of memory foam.
All Octaspring models also have in common the Eco-Cell base support layer. Eco-Cell is Dormeo's breathable polyurethane support foam. In the Octaspring 8000, this base layer is 3 inches high. The intermediate layers between Octasprings are also made of Eco-Cell.
The top layer of Octasprings in the Octaspring 8000 are MemoryCoils. These honeycombed hollow-core octagonal columns are made of high-density memory foam. First used in Dormeo's pillows, these have medium to plush conforming support designed for pressure relief. The company claims that the air-pumping action of these foam springs more than compensates for the tendency of memory foam to build up heat. Also, these springs do not push back the way metal coils [and wooden coils] do. The MemoryCoils are distributed in three zones for major sections of the sleeper's body.
The EcoSpring foam springs in the middle and bottom Octaspring layers of the Octaspring 8000 are made of Eco-Cell. These are support layers. With firm EcoSprings on the perimeter for edge support, the other foam springs in the middle layer are arrayed in five zones to configure support for the head, shoulders, mid-section, hips and feet. The bottom Octaspring layer is all firm EcoSprings for deep down support.
