Doctor Preferred models are innerspring mattresses using
Ortho Mattress's
Doctor Preferred coil system. The Overview on the page for this model says "hand-nested coils," but this is not compatible with the description of
Doctor Preferred coils, so we'll consider that webpage entry to be in error. These coils are wired together in a manner like Bonnell coils, and the image confirms this, so "hand-wired" is a better term.
Ortho Mattress claims that their coils are of a heavier gauge than what standard mattress coils are.
The Doctor Preferred Dreamer Firm mattress can best be described as Extra Firm. Ortho Mattress says it is "For our customers that enjoy a hard feeling mattress." Even the stitching which is "close-cut" contributes to the feel.
The foam in the quilted cover of the Dreamer Firm serves more to smooth out the support of the coils in this 10" tight-top mattress, not to soften it. The edge support is what Ortho calls "Solidstate."
The Doctor Preferred Dreamer Firm mattress can be used with a platform, box spring, or adjustable bed. It is sold exclusively through Ortho Mattress's own stores, and carries a 10 year non-prorated warranty.
