DreamFoam Bedding (DFB) calls its Ultimate Dreams 10" Gel Memory Foam Mattress the "firmer alternative to our 13″ Ultimate Dreams Gel Memory Foam mattress." The comfort level of the 10" mattress is Firm (9/9), that of the 13" model is Soft (2/9). The 13" Gel Memory Foam mattress is compared to the Tempur-Cloud Luxe and Luxe Breeze "at a fraction of the cost;" and the 10" Gel Memory Foam is equivalent, yet firmer, to the Tempur-Cloud Prima. Both models are members of DFB's Memory Foam Mattresses collection, along with the Ultimate Dreams Aria Gel and the Ultimate Dreams Supreme Gel.
The signature feature of the memory foam mattresses in this collection is the top comfort layer of gel memory foam (GMF). The Ultimate Dreams 10" Gel Memory Foam Mattress is the firmest of the four models. Its single comfort layer is less than half the height of the support core. The other models have two comfort layers each, with a combined height half or more that of the support core.
The gel memory foam comfort layer of the 10" GMF mattress is 3" high. Memory foam is used to conform to the contours of sleepers' bodies to relieve pressure, support the spine, and minimize partner disturbance. This 4-lb. memory foam, unlike the original version, has open-cell structure so air can flow through for ventilation and cooling. Beads of gel are added to enhance support and add to the cooling.
The Ultimate Dreams 10" Gel Memory Foam Mattress has a 7" high support core, compared to 8" in the other models of this collection. The core is made of Polyfoam, which is polyurethane foam. This is very firm for deep support from beneath the softer memory foam.
The cover of the 10" GMF is four-way stretch knit cotton. The fire resistant layer is not specified, so it is not wool. Some other DreamFoam Bedding models use a layer of cotton treated with fire retardant materials.
Being a memory foam mattress, the Ultimate Dreams 10" Gel Memory Foam Mattress needs smooth support in a foundation. Qualifying foundations include platform beds, solid top box bases, and adjustable beds. DreamFoam Bedding provides a box base, the Simple Life Foundation, and sells the S-Cape, an adjustable foundation made by Leggett & Platt.
The Ultimate Dreams 10" Gel Memory Foam Mattress is sold on the DreamFoam Bedding website and on Amazon. It is also sold by Wayfair, designated as "by Brooklyn Bedding." It comes with a 45-day trial period and a 10-year warranty.
