The Ultimate Dreams Aloe Alexis is a latex mattress made by Brooklyn Beibdding (BB) and marketed under the DreamFoam Bedding brand. It is an updated or re-branded version of the BB Aloe Alexis. On Amazon it is listed as Aloe Alexis Custom Comfort Latex Mattress with 6 inches of Latex.
On the DreamFoam Bedding website, the Ultimate Dreams Aloe Alexis is listed in the Latex Mattresses collection. At 14", it is the highest model in this collection, also the overall highest DreamFoam model.
The Ultimate Dreams (UD) Aloe Alexis features two layers of Talalay latex. These are each 3" high, accounting for the 6" in the label. Talalay latex is cooler than memory foam, since latex is not as prone to building up absorbed heat. Talalay latex also has vertical perforations which increase airflow. Latex is anti-microbial and dust mite resistant.
The heights of the latex layers are the same for the BB and UD versions. But for the DreamFoam model, it is called "blended Talalay latex," meaning that it is a blend of natural and synthetic latex, which is more durable, but has the feel of natural latex.
The support core of HD foam is 7" high in both versions. For the earlier version, it was called Omalon Foam. In the current version it is labeled "BB HD Foam." Omalon is the name for a densified polyurethane foam with elongated cells. It was widely used beginning in 2010. The change in the label of this foam may or may not indicate a change in the material. It may indicate that the term Omalon had become meaningless through overuse.
The cover of the Ultimate Dreams Aloe Alexis is "quilted aloe vera." For the current model this is not further clarified. However, for the BB Aloe Alexis, it is described as a 50/50 blend of "100% natural cotton and viscose from the aloe plant fiber." One claimed property of this was "moisturizing" with the effect of skin renewal. But "viscose" is another term for "rayon," which is made by extracting and liquifying celluose from plant fibers and extruding them as fibers. The resulting rayon has only the cellulose from the original plant. But in the case of aloe rayon, extracts from aloe vera juice and gel may have been added to the liquified cellulose before extrusion, or may have been applied to the finished viscose fibers. The rayon would give the blended fiber a silky feel.
The 1" quilting of the cover includes wool and foam. The wool is a non-chemical flame resistant barrier. The foam in the UD version of Aloe Alexis is called polyfoam, while in the BB version it is Reflex Foam. In either case, it is a foam of polyurethane foam designed to give the very top of the mattress a cushiony feel.
One key feature of the Ultimate Dreams Aloe Alexis is the custom comfort. When a mattress is ordered, Brooklyn Bedding dba DreamFoam Bedding contacts the customer to determine the best firmness level for the users. With the available firmnesses for the two Talalay latex layers and which one is upper, there are 10 possible comfort levels.
Currently (Oct 2015) the Ultimate Dreams Aloe Alexis is available online directly through the DreamFoam Bedding website or on Amazon. It may or may not be available through retailers in Arizona who carried Brooklyn Bedding products. There is a 45 Day Trial Period and a 10 Year Warranty.
