Perfection Rest Collection

Eclipse Home

Perfection Rest is one of three mattress series by Eclipse Sleep Products (ESP), also known as Eclipse International. The other two are the Conformatic Collection and the Contour Care Collection. The three models shown on ESP's website are all innerspring mattresses. These are part of the 2016 version of ESP's product line.

There are pre-existing models in the market labeled as"Perfection Rest" which are latex mattresses and memory foam mattresses, as well as an innerspring model which has a lower coil count. Depending on demand and retailers' request, production could possibly continue for these. Eclipse notes at the bottom of their product pages that not all models are shown.

The claim to fame for this series was in October 2015 when Pope Francis visited the United States. Stuart Carlitz, the owner of Bedding Industries of America, the parent company of Eclipse International and Eastman House Bedding donated BIA mattresses for the pope's visit to Philadelphia. These included a Loom & Leaf mattress for Pope Francis (BIA makes mattresses for SaatvaLoom & Leaf is one of their brands), Eastman House Hospitality mattresses for his top aides, and Eclipse International Perfection Rest mattresses for the rest of his entourage.

The innersprings of Perfection Rest mattresses are 700-count open offset coils (those in the Comformatic Collection are pocket coils, and those in the Contour Care Collection are Bonnell coils). Open offset coils are tied to each other at the bottom, but not at the top. This allows an individual response similar to that of pocket coils, but without the pockets. Therefore these coils relieve pressure and isolate motion. Two advantages over pocket coils are more durability and better airflow.

The innerspring is girdled by LifeEdge foam encasement. Butterly wire springs are inserted into the foam rails to enhance support of the edge of the top surface.

5 Zoned Innerspring System w-legend

Together with the coils, this is Eclipse's 5 Zoned Innerspring. The alternating coils (left-hand, right-hand) are in five zones according to their firmness and density to match support with areas of the body. The firmest ones are in the middle zone (Zone 3), which supports most of the body weight. the next zones out are Zones 2 and 4 for the upper back & shoulders and for the thighs. At the ends of the mattress are Zones 1 and 5 for the head & neck and for the legs and feet. Zones 2 & 4 are identical, as are 1 & 5.

On top of the coils is an insulator pad. This is to protect the comfort foams from damage by the coils, and the coils from entanglement with the foam. Added to this is a pad of pre-compressed polyester, a transition layer between the very firm coils and the softer foams.

The comfort layers vary by model. These include Eclipse's cushion firm upholstery foam, cushion firm and plush comfort foams, and memory foam. One model, St. Moritz, has a layer of microcoils (the height of these is not listed, so I don't know if they should be classified as minicoils).

According to Eclipse, all of their polyurethane foams are plant-based. One retailer lists the source plant as soy.

Some of the Perfection Rest mattresses are pillowtop models. The height of this extra section varies by model, listed as 6" in one model 3" in another.

The damask fabric in the cover is made of cotton. It is quilted to one or more layers of Eclipse quilting foam. The firmness of the quilting foam depends on the model. The fire resistant liner is silica-infused rayon.

The one foundation named for mattresses in the Perfection Rest Collection is an advanced design box spring using Leggett & Platt's Semi-Flex spring system instead of coils. However, these models would also be compatible with platform beds and adjustable beds. But first check with the reatailer on how this affects the warranty.

Warranties on Perfection Rest mattresses are for 15 or 20 years. Eclipse does not sell their products online, but they do have a store locator on their website. Two of the retailers carrying Perfect Rest mattresses are Wayfair and Futonland.
