Lady Englander Collection

The Lady Englander Collection was introduced in 1971 by Englander. It is now one of Englander's Classic Sleep Products. At least three manufacturers, Advanced Sleep Concepts (ASC, Englander SouthEast), Sleep, Inc. (Englander NorthEast), and Tualatin Sleep Products (Englander NorthWest), list and describe the Lady Englander Collection online.

Lady Englander models are innerspring mattresses. Two kinds of coil units are named in the ASC listings: HG 400-series and 800 quad insert. ASC lists 44 Lady Englander models. There are several groupings: Dual Edge, Euro Visco, Natural Ambiance, Princess, Sleep Essence, Velvet Touch, Visco, Brighton, Quantum, and Stratford. There are also a few stand-alone models: 115th Anniversary, Gold Edition, Platinum Edition and Ultra Gold.

Innerspring

Most of the groupings and the 115th Anniversary use the HG 400-series coil unit. Three groupings (Brighton, Quantum, Stratford) and three stand-alones (Gold Edition, Platinum Edition and Ultra Gold) use the 800 Quad insert coil unit. According to Tualatin Sleep Products, offset coils are used in the Lady Englander Collection.

Edge Support

One of the HD 400 units has a 6-gauge border rod. It also has 360° molded foam edge support, as do all of the Dual Edge, Euro Visco, and Visco Summerville mattresses. in Visco Signature models the HG 400 coil unit is "foam encased." In all the rest, edge support is supplied by Englander's I-BEAM® true-foam edge.

Comfort Layers

Various comfort foams are used in Lady Englander mattresses. The Dual Edge LF has, besides the quilting, a 1¼" layer of convoluted foam called "eco-friendly." Convoluted foams are used in most of the other models along with other foams. These include, depending on the model, firm, luxury or soft polyurethane foams, visco memory foam, and latex. Some models have a comfort layer of the I-BEAM foam. It is not said on ASC's Lady Englander page, but these foams are most likely produced by Variable Pressure Foaming.

Covers and Quilting

The most common quilting material used in Lady Englander mattresses is QuiltFlex®. It is not in all models, and a few have more than one layer of this. Also used is simple quilting foam and convoluted foam. In none of the descriptions is the cover material listed.

The naturally expected foundations for Lady Englander mattresses are box springs. However, other foundations are also appropriate, such as European wood slats and adjustable beds. Leggett & Platt also makes an advanced design box spring with torsion bars instead of coils.

The warranties on Lady Englander mattresses are for 10 years with the first 3 years non-prorated and the remaining 7 prorated.
