Generations Relief
Relief is one of three series in the
Generations Collection of the
Diamond Mattress Collection made by
Diamond Mattress, Inc., a mattress manufacturer based in Rancho Dominguez, California.
Relief mattresses can best be described as hybrids with an innerspring support core and a foam comfort core.
There are three models in the
Relief series:
Pillow Top,
Luxury Firm, and
Luxury Plush. On a 1-10 scale of firmness, with 10 being the firmest, they are 1, 3 and 8. They are 15.5", 14", and 13" high respectively.
The primary support for the
Relief series is the innerspring core of 744 (in Queen size) individually wrapped pocket coils. The coils themselves are made by
Diamond. Each of the individual coils responds independently to the pressure applied directly to it. This way the coil array conforms to the shape and weight of the sleeper's body. Combined with the conformability of the foams above, this spreads weight evenly, reducing or eliminating pressure points, since certain parts of the body—such as shoulders, hips and knees—do not carry all the support of the body. These coils also minimize transfer of motion, so one sleeper's movements do not disturb the other. The coils in
Relief series mattresses are "Tri-zoned" with coil density higher in the middle third of the mattress. This is to provide more support for the lower back (lumbar).
The comfort core has several layers of foam. The bulk of this foam is
Eco-Flex, a high density support foam. Like the pocket coils innerspring, this foam is tri-zoned, being firmer in the middle.
Eco-Flex, like other
Diamond Mattress foams, is certified by Certipur as being free from harmful chemicals.
Atop the
Eco-Flex is
Eco-Memory foam. This visco-elastic memory foam is infused with gel, using
Diamond's
CoolGEL technology. The memory foam is highly conformable, matching the contours of a user's body, which goes even futher in pressure-point reduction. The gel increases the support level of the memory foam while cooling the sleeping surface by carrying heat away.
Foam encasement serves as perimeter support for the innerspring pocket coils and as edge support for the whole mattress in the
Relief series. This both holds the individual coils in place and supports the sleeping surface, making it completely usable and eliminating the "roll-off" and "roll-together" sensations.
The cover of
Relief series mattresses is 4-way stretch knit rayon fabric. this is resistant to allergens and dust mites. Rayon is also flame-resistant.
Relief series mattresses mattresses have a base layer of
Eco-Flex which protects the bottom of the mattress as it sits on the foundation.
The approved foundations for
Diamond Mattress Generations Relief series mattresses are an orthopedic box spring and an adjustable base.
The Generations Relief series mattresses by Diamond are made in the U.S.A. and carry a 20-year limited warranty. However, Diamond Mattress recommends changing a mattress after 8 years.
