iComfort EFX Aura
Aura is the entry-level model in the
iComfort EFX collection of
memory foam mattresses from
Serta.
The 9" high
iComfort EFX Aura has a firmness level of Plush. support is provided by the
Comfort Last Foam Core of high resiliency
foam. This underlying support is augmented by the
Ultimate Edge perimeter support, which holds the layers in place while supporting the sleeping surface.
The
EverFeel Technology begins at the top in the
cover with
Avantec fabric which blends
polyester, lycra and Tencel. Tencel is fibers derived from wood pulp which wick moisture and cool the sleepng surface through evaporation.
The main comfort feature is
Serta's
Cool Action™ Dual Effects Gel Memory Foam. It is open-cell
memory foam infused with two kinds of
gel.
MicroSupport gel is selected to make the memory foam more supportive while still being conforming, and
MicroCool+ gel is for cooling.
The primary role of the
Cool Action™
Dual Effects gel memory foam is pressure relief. Memory foam responds to weight and heat to conform to the sleeper's body contours, evenly supporting the entire body. Since a few parts of the body don't bear all the load, this reduces pressure points.
Since ordinary memory foam builds up heat, manufacturers find ways to counteract it. One way, used by
Serta iComfort, is open-cell structure. This allows air to flow through the foam. A second method is infusing the memory foam with gel. Gel carries heat away to where it can dissipate.
Serta claims that its method of infusion is better than the way discount-price manufacturers do it.
The
Aura EFX has the same 25-year warranty as the other
iComfort EFX models. It is also at least as widely available as they are.
