iSeries Hybrid Sleep System collection. The signature features of the
iSeries Hybrid Sleep System are the
Cool Action™ Dual Effects® Gel Memory Foam and
Duet® Coil Individually Wrapped Coil-in-Coil Support System. This adds the sure support of a
coil system to the contouring conformity of
Serta's
iComfort memory foam mattress comfort layers. The 13¾"
iSeries Expression is the third highest
iSeries Hybrid Sleep System model in height, but the second highest in price.
The
polyester cover fabric of the
iSeries Expression Firm is quilted to
PilloFill and
FireBlocker.
The
iSeries Expression has three foam comfort layers. The top layer (1) is
Serta's
Cool Action™ Dual Effects® Gel Memory Foam. This is
memory foam infused with two kinds of
gel.
MicroSupport®, as the name implies, is used to enhance the support of the
foam, while
MicroCool+™ is for cooling.
Cool Action™ Dual Effects® has a higher proportion of gel than previous gel foams used by
Serta.
Just beneath the
Cool Action are two layers (2 and 3) of
Serta® Support Foam. According to
Serta, this foam "combines gentle cushioning with extra support, for more firmness at the sleep surface." These layers are a key to the extra firm comfort rating of this mattress.
Deep down support in the
iSeries Expression Firm relies on the
Duet® Coil Individually Wrapped Coil-in-Coil Support System. Individually Wrapped Coil-in-Coil Support System. Each
Duet® Coil is two coils fashioned from one wire, a shorter, narrower coil within a taller, wider one. The outer coil has fewer turns, making it more responsive to light weight, while the inner coil has more turns, giving it a firmer response. This makes the support suitable for both lightweight and heavyweight sleepers. As independent pocket coils, the support is conforming for pressure relief and spinal posture. It also dampens motion transfer, reducing sleeper disturbance.
The recommended
foundation for the
iSeries Expression Firm is
Serta's
StabL Base. Mistakenly billed as a "box spring" by some retailers, it is really an upholstered
platform with a steel frame and hardwood sheathing. This model is also compatible with
adjustable beds, such as the
Serta Motion Signature adjustable base.
Availble through several local, regional and national retailers, both online and in stores, the
iSeries Expression Firm is covered against defects in manufacturing and materials by
Serta's 25-year limited warranty. The first 15 years are non-prorated, while the remaining 10 are prorated.
